My stitchy bug ran away

Post by coolpenguin »

As the subject says, my stitchy bug ran away. I haven't stitched since January! My mind is going five million miles a minute and won't let me concentrate on stitching at all. I hope to sit down in the coming days and try again. It's supposed to be fun, not a chore. :tantrum:
The last I stitched were two minis that I don't think I posted on here. My ABC of the Ocean has had zero work on it since January. In addition to my mind racing, I've started a new round of chemo for my bone cancer and I've been really sick from that.

I need to visit you guys more often. I miss this place.

I'm so glad you posted and let us know how you are. I certainly hope that your stitchy bug comes back and that you get through this round of chemo soon. I also hope that you will check in fairly often. Even if you aren't stitching, visiting is allowed and posting about other members' projects or encouraging stash acquisitions is always a good way to get back into the swing of things.

so sorry to hear that you are sick from the chemo, and I hope you feel better soon

your stitchy bug will return in its own time, mine often goes walkabout but does eventually come back, it annoys me because I think of all the time I could have spent stitching! but you shouldn't worry about it and come and visit as often as you like, this forum has been good for me in the worst of times even when I haven't posted anything its comforting to come and see what others are up to

Its really great to see you back online but not at all great that your stitchy bug up and left, not part of the game at all. So sorry too about more chemo and hope it doesn't interfere too much with the :x: return of the stitchy bug.

I'm sure your stitchy bug will be back soon. Sounds like he's on a extended vacation to recharge his batteries. :)

Maybe you need to get (your cat)/(a borrowed cat) to go and catch it and bring it back.

The boss at home wasn't feeling too well last week, so helpful cat (a 3 yo Maine Coon weighing 15lb) went out to make her feel better. He caught a Pygmy Shrew (an endangered species, especially endangered in our garden), trotted back into the house, upstairs, onto our bed and then poked & squeaked at my wife until she woke up, and then dropped his present on her hand. Helped her get up very quickly. @rotfl:

Maybe the stitchy bug could be added to your/borrowed cat's menu?

Hope things get better for you. All the best,

Richard

Richard, your cat was probably thinking, "Mommy's all better now, my work here is done..." and smugly went on his way. Great story!

Coolpenguin, I hope you feel better soon, and stitchy finds his way back home.

Good to see you!

I have to say mine stitch bug must be with yours as it's been missing since January as well. I just don't seem to be into stitching lately or much of anything crafty. I've started another project last month but that lasted about a week and there it sits with my other 2 WIP plus I just signed up for the Summer SAL by Ursula and I do t know when I'll even start it.....I need my stitch bug to come back.
If you see yours could you have him send mine this way and maybe we can both get stitching :tantrum:

Thanks for all of the continued support. I tried stitching yesterday but I just couldn't do it. Instead, I browsed a facebook group I belong to and "oohed and ahhed" over other peoples projects.

Oohing and Ahing is a good step. Will be an inducement to the stitchy bug for getting his own oohs and ahs soon!

I have a hard time stitching once the summer hits and it gets hot. There's something about it being hot and then sitting under a lap so I can see, which just adds to the heat, that I don't stitch a lot this time of year. I just get very uncomfortable in the heat so I don't want to stitch.

I'm so sorry to hear about your not feeling well with the chemo and all. I'm glad that at least you're able to get online and enjoy some stictch-y porn. Is that a thing? I love, love, love to look at pictures of projects that everyone is doing. I know there will never be enough time in my lifetime to complete all of the projects on my wish list, so I live vicariously through everyone else's stitch-y pictures.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sorry life has hit you hard these last few months. Stitching can help, and I wonder what type of product might help your stress and keep your mind from racing? Monochrome so you don't have to think about colours? Or confetti so you can't think about anything else?

I hope things get better for you soon.

I wasn't going through chemo, but was going through a high stress situation and stitched something with tons of back stitch and colour changes and that helped me keep my mind off of it while I was stitching at least.

It is a matter of utter fact that stitchy bugs take Gap Years. Well, maybe not a whole actual year, but they do eventually return. They are not entirely unlike felines, in fact: the less fuss you make of them, the more they have to be with you to find out why! :kitty:

One thing at a time; your chemo is quite enough to be dealing with. Look around the tubes and find lovely things to look at. And do join in the conversation here if you feel up to it. :wip:

Hope the stitchy bug returns soon, and that (what with your treatment) it is the ONLY bug to get you! As Carole said, oohing and aahing is a good step in the right direction. Personally I find playing with stash very therapeutic when I don't feel up to actual stitching. A bit of gentle thread-rearranging or fabric-fondling does wonders!

Sorry to hear your chemo makes you feel so ill & I do hope you will be feeling better soon, well enough to start stitching again. Good that you visited us & hope you will keep popping in even if you don't feel like posting at the moment; maybe soon you will feel more like joining in. Love & hugs

I picked up a simple Dimensions kit from my stash yesterday and I managed to get about 20 stitches in. No more since then, though. Thanks for the kind words :ratherbe:
