I understand that you haven’t had time to be here so often. I have had the same trouble. Your stitching is beautiful

Lovely and so different. The great thing about these samplers is they are relatively quick to do and there isn't the guilt feeling about letting it lie for a while between motifs.

So much to see on this beautiful piece of work!
All the different stitches and colours must be quite exciting to stitch, Serinde.

And here's Winter Loch, framed. It went into the local show today (only got it back from the framer's yesterday ). Didn't do too badly, as you can see. Might have helped if the lighting had been better -- couldn't see my lovely clouds. Hey ho. (First prize went to one of the Autumn Celtic Season Lady, so understandable.)

"Understandable"? Well, perhaps if the judging is on colourfulness...
This is such a beautiful, peaceful piece, and the framing sets it off perfectly.

One can look at the picture so beautifully stitched and feel at peace. Well Done on your 3rd place but I agree it should have been 1st.

As said, a really beautiful peaceful picture, fabulous stitch work Serinde. Should have got first but as long as you are happy enough with the award you got, that's what matters. Would really love this on my wall, I'd be one very happy bunny
What are you going to create next or is it a secret at the moment?

Well done for your prize! I agree that it should have been First. They should exhibit the pieces of Art in correct lighting!
As Izzi said, I would love to have such a wonderfully peaceful scenery on my wall .

Fantastic...always loved this design from Mary Hickmott
I bet the judge wasn't wearing her 'proper' glasses when she looked at that....?? Snow Blindness?
Congrats on a well deserved prize!

To be fair, it's a local show which is held in all the available space in the hosting village. The crafts were moved into the church several years ago, rather than in the (better lit) church hall. They do the best they can with what they have to work with. On the 150th anniversary, they did have all the vegetable categories in the church (giant leeks and enormous cabbages and all that), which was really wonderful... sort of a pre-harvest festival ... and I don't quite know why they didn't continue. Luckily yesterday was a bright and very sunny day.poppy wrote:Well done for your prize! I agree that it should have been First. They should exhibit the pieces of Art in correct lighting!

If I ever want to give it away, you guys can draw straws for it, ok?

Well, I'm working on my big Blackwork Journey sampler, and suddenly need a 70th birthday card (yipes). But Winter Woods does have a companion piece... and it is in my stash...kingfisher2 wrote:What are you going to create next or is it a secret at the moment?

Simply beautiful. Third place, first place, no place, it doesn't matter a whit. It is perfection.
