Have just sat down with a hot chocolate and watching the busy birds on the feeders outside. Have been very busy myself with Mavis today and yesterday and I only have the beige and white full cross stitches to do and some back stitch and then she'll be finished! Haven't taken a photo but will do over the holidays at some point.

We need to get some Christmas food shopping tonight and then that'll be us sorted! I wrapped my last two presents for my parents earlier today and put them under the tree :whoop:

Have a great Christmas everyone

I will bring oliebollen and appelflappen to the party! They taste a lot nicer than they sound :-)

(oliebollen are fluffy balls of yeasted batter - with dried fruit if desired - deep fried and dusted with icing sugar; appleflappen are rings of apple coated in batter and deep-fried. OK, no-one said they were healthy...)

Anything deep fried has to be yummy.
I will bring a very traditional Southern New Year's Day dish called Hoppin' John. (I have no idea where the name comes from)
It's one of those classic Southern dishes that come with as many versions, stories and flavors as there are cooks. At its core, however, Hoppin’ John is rice, black-eyed peas (or field peas which are used in my husband's family), smoked pork, and onions.

Black eyed peas are supposed to bring you luck if you eat them on New Year’s Day, and it is traditionally eaten with collard greens.

I'm supplying the malt, obviously, supplementing what's already behind the bar. I've prepared the Black Bun (basically rich fruitcake with pastry all around it).

Eats sound delkcious, especially Mabel's. The black bun is something I've not heard of before but always worth trying something new. Enjoy New Years Eve celebrations.

I have come to join you too, what a wild party, huh?

It is bean soup and rice cake on the menu here, I brought you some too. Hungarian folk tradition says that everything that is lots of small things - beans, lentils, poppy seed etc - will bring you luck in the new year. Will bring you as many coins or something like this :D

:toast: Happy New Stitchy Year!
