Eight very eventful months later!! I only finished a row plus a half-size first page of the final row, even with quarantine and being laid off my job of 28 years a month ago. I probably won’t have this done until end of January at the earliest, even though I was hoping to finish it by year’s end.

I'm sorry about your job -- that's a real blow. I suspect few of us got as much stitching done as we might have under lockdown, but this is a beautiful piece and I hope the action of stitching is helping you a bit. There's a little something of your choice waiting for you in the Stash & Grab.

I am also sorry to hear about your job. :( Unhappily something that has happened to way too many people.

Your stitching and progress however are :D :D fantastic. This is so beautiful and so detailed and perfectly stitched. I adore it.

So sorry about your job. Must be a heck of a hole to fill.

The stitching is beautiful. Can't praise it enough.

Thanks so much for the good thoughts!! The good thing about having been there for so long is that I’ll be getting severance checks until next June as well as unemployment checks for not quite as long, so I have taken a bit of a break for this first month. Job hunting will begin in earnest soon, though, after I get back from Florida in ten days (driving down to pick Mom up and bring her back here to Illinois so she can see family and still fly home before Thanksgiving).

I will be taking a stitching break from this project to get cracking on the ornament kits I have bought over the past year—Christmas presents are not going to be pricey, but if I can do some handmade items, that should work.

Life as we once knew it has changed greatly this year and hopefully the job hunt will not take too long. At least you have your Masterpiece to keep you occupied and relaxed. Good luck with the job hunt.

I just finished!!! I took three months off to do Christmas projects (all of which I finished, for once!), then got back to this two months ago. And now it is done! I am mixing myself a drink right after I post this...

Thanks everyone!

I just finished disassembling my blended thread bobbins and get to put my leftover floss back into my permanent stash. After that, I’ll know which colors I’ll need for the next project, “Sunset, Bar Harbor” by Frederic Church. My mom and I have been there twice and I adore sunset colors, so I knew I would be making this one for Mom’s wall. It’s just short of 93,000 stitches, so less than half as much as this finished project.
