Great finish on Pikachu (do you use a stretcher bar frame?) and looking forward to seeing the baby shower project!

Pikachu is actually stitched on a premade square. It's maybe 5x5"(?) with the fabric already stapled on. You can buy them 2-3 at a time in white or black. They're okay, not the greatest. You have to be careful not to put too much pressure from the top. I try to keep it "fluffed" up from below while stitching to avoid indent marks or fabric stretching.

This is where I stopped on Celebi (Shiny) tonight. Only a few colors to go and her name.

What a sweet frame! And a fit is a fit, even if it's a bit snug :-)

So Christmas is coming up, and I've gotten started on a bird for my dad. We actually don't have Blue Jays in our area, but Stellar's Jays instead. Generally regarded as a pretty, but nuisance bird, dad both likes to watch them, and hope a hawk takes them (or the random Bald Eagle chilling out at the lake). I asked a vendor on Etsy (HawthornTreeDesigns, I'll link her at the bottom), who had a Blue Jay design, if she'd make a Stellar's Jay that I could buy. I had almost given up when out of nowhere she messaged me back and said she did! So I bought it.

Here's the finished look:
Image

I chose a Wichelt hand-dyed Jobelan in 28ct in a green color, called "Lazy River" (although it photographs blue. I've used a few filters when posting to Instagram to make that green show up). I'm using my lighted magnifying lens to work on it, I've had some pretty wicked migraines lately- that have been extending to right occipital muscles behind my right eye- so naturally my eye feels like it's trying to pop out. I've outlined the first color down to the tail, and about to start on the next.

HawthornTreeDesigns- located in the UK, and has several bird designs more UK local I think.

Great start :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

It will make a super Christmas gift for your Dad.

I get both the classic and occipital "silent" migraines, so I do feel for you, here's hoping they stay away for quite some time and that you can avoid the triggers.

That is a superb and thoughtful gift for your dad! :applesauce:

What makes it so special is when designers listen to what the customer wants!
We have hoopoo birds here and I asked the designer, Mary Hickmott, of the late lamented magazine New Stitches for a pattern for a hoopoo and in the next magazine there was one for me! :whoop:
