Oh, this is a great achievement! They are so interesting to look at but must be a great challenge to stitch -- well done you :applesauce: :applesauce: !

By the way, I love the effect of the variegated fire.

Lisa wrote:oohh i was reading this thread the other night as I have ordered the cut thru pirate ship, with plans on doing the rocket ship, princess palace AND fairy hill for the kids rooms. I like back stitch though. thanks for the tips

it is fab though and I bet your MIL (?) loves it!!
Oh gosh, don't let me put you off!! It's a great series and some of the designs are amazing. I very much admire them, it's just not what I would choose to stitch for myself. Please post your project in a SAL thread if/when you start. (BTW It's for my Aunt's 60th in Jan as she has a gypsy caravan in a field outside her house. Don't tell her! )

Well done, it looks great! Bet you're glad to finish all that back-stitching though. I know what you mean about being all whole stitches to its detriment - my celestial project is the same and I have done the same as you, adding fractional stitches to give nicer lines.

Wonderful!!!!!
:applesauce: :applesauce:
I love the review you've done at the end of the project. Really helpful for anyone else considering trying one.
I've also done the same as you and put my own fractional stitches on projects to give a better outline as the blocky square look tends to annoy me  .

Exactly :)

This turned out brilliant slinky, you have made me want to try one of the cut thru series by seeing how this was turning (havent invested yet though lol I am really bad at backstitch till i get used to it more). Your aunt will absolutely love it :applesauce:

Absolutely beautiful. So kind of you to make a review like that. I've never seen the designs other than the one here that you just did. I think I'm going to check them out though, even though I am not too into the whimsical myself. But would most likely make a great gift!

Awesome Work!! :)

Well done!!! :applesauce: That is quite wonderful!!

I know what you mean about the charts and the backstitch too!! I've done the Rocket and the Igloo. With the Rocket I used Blue denim Aida 14 as I couldn't face 16 Navy!! But they are fun and worth all the effort.

BTW I've been given the lighthouse to do as well! BUT that can wait a little while.

I hope your aunt(?) likes it!

I just saw that one the other day. My MIL loves lighthouses, but this isn't her style. I think it would be cute to do, though...and the princess palace.

Love the pic, love the colours! Well done! :D :applesauce: :D :applesauce: :D

I've looked at cut-thru designs on the net myself, but never felt brave enough, because, well, you have to cut unstitched background away, don't you? Don't you? :? Only the completed pic didn't LOOK as though anything was cut away. Have I got the wrong idea about 'em?

And if you don't cut 'em what does cut-thru MEAN? :? :? :?

No, you don't actually cut anything, but if you look at the pictures of these designs they show the insides of something, that you normally couldn't see unless you went in there. So it's like as if the outside has been 'cut away or cut thru' to enable you to see whats going on inside.
