Eye drops at the eye specialist so I can't work - but I can't read or stitch either! What a waste

True . They did confirm that the smudge in front of my left eye (well, in my eye really of course, but it looks like it's in front) is not dangerous, and that I have no sign of macular degeneration or anything else, but unfortunately the smudge is there to stay and I'll have to learn to live with it.

By the way, I asked the specialist about wearing reading glases that are "too strong" for one's prescription, in effect using them as magnifying glasses for stitching, and here's what he said about it:

"You get glasses for your need. If your need is to have something that magnifies your stitching, then you discuss with your optician what strength you need for what distance, and get them made up. They won't harm your eyes, even if you wear them for a long time. If you feel eye strain, stop doing what you're doing for a while, but the glasses won't hurt at all."

I hope this may help others who are considering using magnifying glasses.

I have 'smudges' in my eyes too! I had laser treatment on the retina in my right eye after a bleed or leakage of blood into the back of my eye....followed by a lesser problem in my left eye which was lasered.
The specialist told me that the black dots and smudges won't go but my brain will cease to see them. I find them most annoying when I'm tired!

I had a very bad reaction to a new inhaler on Wednesday, lots of drama, paramedics, oxygen, unbelievably high blood pressure, still had difficulty breathing after 72 hours. Long story short, am home, resting but bored.

Still trying to stitch but not getting much done, get so tired so quickly.

Hope you are feeling better and the worst is over for you. That sounds like a terrifying experience and this is the best place to recover. Being bored is probably a good sign that you are recovering. Rest and relaxation will have you moving again soon.

Aww, Thank you all.

The bed rest by the window has been just what I needed and it was lovely to look out over the lake.

Dr Tinycat was most helpful, I took his advice and changed Doctors surgeries (those in the UK know how hard THAT is these days) and I saw my new GP today. I was hoping to have a new preventer inhaler but he is consulting with the Pharmacy first to make sure none of the ingredients will have such a reaction again, that is very good start, I will find out more tomorrow and I have another appointment next tuesday too.

The nurses here have been so kind, bringing Poppy's chocolate - Thank You Poppy, and plumping pillows and opening the window to the lake just so.

I snuck my stitching in and have been managing more and more so I must be on the mend.

I am checking out of this lovely ward and as a thank you have brought a bouquet of Tulips in every colour for the ward and I had the elves plant some Bluebells under the trees by the lake

Those Tulips are really adding colour. I saw the Elves this morning and they have been so careful not to disturb the Primroses, Snowdrops, Crocus and wild Orchids whilst planting the most beautiful deep blue Bluebells. (why we hadn't thought of planting those before is beyond me!)

Also have to say how pleased I am that you are recovering with the help of a new GP and of course our own Dr Tinycat!

ps.....did you see that the Puffins are returning to their burrows on the bank?

for your feeling better, Maureen. And for your new doctor checking to make sure new meds are not ones you are allergic to. While this is the most lovely and caring place to recuperate (so good that it is hard to leave), I'm glad that you are well enough to finish recuperating at home!

May I sit in the recovery room with the lovely conservatory and the gentle bird song? My tummy started flaring about 9 weeks ago and although with double medication it is finally beginning to settle down I'm feeling horribly drained

Find a super comfy chair or sofa (which all of them are) to curl up on and rest your feet. All the beverages available are soothing for your tummy. The gentle breeze is also so soothing and the bird songs so beautiful you will feel even better. Don't forget the little bell on the side table is there if you want anything. Nurses and nursing elves are at your beck and call.

Meanwhile all the cushions and pillows have been plumped up, I refreshed the Peppermint tea as well as all the usual beverages. The elves are sorting a new trolley full of books of whatever kind of reading material takes your fancy, so kerp your feet up, relsx and take as long as you need. Gentle

I sure hope you'll get better soon! You sound like an asthma patient. I am one myself, and I know how it feels, when you are not able to breath. There has been times when I've been sure or the doctors have been sure my life will end then and there, but somehow I have always battled my way back to life.
Take 1 day at a time and let the true professionals check your meds.
