Can I rest quietly in here please, don't really need to be in the hospital, but not upto the S&G.

Had my eyes tested yesterday and along with needing new glasses, I have cataracts in both eyes, but have to wait until they get worse before I can have them removed.

Am in shock I think and could do with a hug from anyone passing by.

 and :grouphug: - our eyes are so important to us it's a shock when something goes wrong with them. And very frustrating to have to wait for things to get worse first. Here's hoping the new glasses will make a difference in spite of the cataracts!

I too have the beginnings of cataracts :tantrum: so what with the black floaters I already have from past problems it's a wonder I don't pass you by in here without recognising you!!

Sorry to hear that. At least it can be sorted out but frustrating in the meantime. Here is a hug for support

Thank you for the :grouphug:  I really needed them

Think I'm still in a bit of shock, but roll on 7-10 days for new glasses :x: they help.

Now to try to calm down after being proved right that there was something wrong with my combi boiler, and me having to re-pressurise it 5 times this year alone was not normal. Am having it repaired, but :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: at service people.

Just don't tell anyone I don't know what a hot water fermister is okay?

Just for reference it's probably a 'Thermistor' - a number of people say 'F' instead of 'TH'. My youngest daughter talks about the Manga series 'Deaf Note', but all the books have 'Death Note' as part of the title. However that pronunciation is probably appropriate for 'Death Metal' which will send you deaf in double quick time. :?

Anyway, a Thermistor is a resistor that changes its resistance as the temperature changes - a way of having a solid state safety cutout permanently wired in for when the boiler overheats.

I have a problem with my CH too. It appears we had a mouse commit suicide in our header tank last year, and since then all sorts of bacterial jelly & sludge has been growing in the system. Unfortunately some of the sludge sticks the 3 way valve open. Unexpectedly that leaves the CH boiler and pump running all the time (stupid design - the controller does NOT control the pump or boiler, just tries to control the 3 way valve which is the thing that actually controls the pump & boiler). Wastes a heck of a lot of money if you have no idea it's happening. Anyway, before I finally found inch thick sheets of stinking bacterial jelly in the header tank, I changed the pump, controller & 3 way valve, all completely un-necessarily. :tantrum: We need to flush the whole system out again, but every time I've done it, the jelly grows back & the problem returns.

Regards,

Richard.

Of course, I should have known our Richard would know what it is  :P

Thanks for the explanation.

It has a slow leak apparently and the water has calcified around it, I didn't realise our water was THAT hard, also the automatic air vents ( I googled that :P ) have calcification on them too, so yeah, definitely had a slow leak.

It sounds like you may need to replace the header tank if that's where the bacteria that leads to the sludge starts, although I know you are allergic to spending money. You have my sympathies on the expenses.

I probably misheard the pronunciation as I am completely deaf in one ear and have only limited hearing in the other. Death Metal is probably the only music I would hear without my hearing aids. @rotfl:

That’s scary. I heard the “C” word from my eye doc a couple of years ago but no sign of anything yet, knock wood.
I am feeling sorry for myself today, this humidity is so horrid I have had a low grade headache for days now. This is the longest heat wave we’ve had in years, it’s been unrelenting. And to top it all off, I scratched my cornea a couple of days ago. :tantrum: . So frustrating.

Big hug, Maureen  I was told also last week that I have a beginning of cataracts too. Cataracts grow very slowly.
I am sure the new glasses will feel good for cross stitching. Please, do not worry

I finally caught up with this thread.

Mareen, you certainly have had a time of problems and then having to wait such a loggn time for the boiler to be repaired is totally crazy. I sure hope they get to it sooner rather than later.

To you and Wendy my sympathies to you both knowing that the cataracts have to get worse before they can be removed and new lenses put in. The only advice I can give is to try not to strain your eyes too much during the oh so long wait.  :rainbow: :rainbow:

Hi, everyone, can I have a bed, please? I am on a month sick-leave. Could be even longer. :( Depression, anxiety, PTSD. And all of that brought back my old stomach acid/reflux problem. Not feeling well. Had a panic attack in school last Monday, so I decided it is useless to pretend everything is all right.
Since then I have been reorganising my tiny sewing room. It felt good but now I am really tired of the mess I created. Still not done, boxes and bags of stuff all over the place, and I have no idea where I will put everything. But I want to just sit down and knit and stitch. It's been ages I did cross stitch. I am thinking now would be a good time to pick it up again.
Anyway, can I please have some of the magic (non fattening) chocolate and cake? Thank you so much.
Agi

*plumps up cushions* You can have whatever you like, including a restful room with whatever distractions or lack of distractions you need at the moment. If birdsong soothes you, there will be birdsong. If on the other hand it would annoy you, you can have breezes-in-the-treetops or gent;e-sea-breezes or children-enjoying-a-funfair or complete silence!
And of course the exact project that you feel like stitching will be right by your side for you to pick up whenever you feel like it.

Dear Agi, so sorry to read that life has been far less than good lately and I hope it all soon packs its bags and heads off out into the wilderness where it belongs.

Settle down with a cuppa, and some lovely orange ring cake freshly made just for you. :cake:

Oh, dear Agi. I'm sorry it took a panic attack at school, but I'm relieved you have made such a big decision which will be so much better for your health in the long run. If you want to sit and stitch and knit, you just go right ahead. We'll not stop you, or comment about the "mess"... you haven't seen my "office", have you?... Prop your feet up on the boxes. I have arranged for cake and hot chocolate to be available for you in the treehouse because it's so sunny here -- perfect September day -- and I have several tartan rugs for you, if you are feeling chilly. :P

Age, everything you need and want is right here whenever you wish for it. Company if desired (let me know as I would love to keep you company - and I really can provide quiet companionship if you want) or lovely alone time if preferred. Laverne has offered to provide warmth to your lap with extra purring which can ease the head and heart. Take the time you need to take care of yourself. Remember we are all within earshot (or is that post shot?) if you need us.

Oh Agi, what a mess! I am so sad you have to go through such a difficult time. I can always sit by your side and knit or stitch. I love them both, even if my stitching (actually needlepoint) project would need my attention more at the moment.

Do we have any provision for members' family members? My poorly Elder Son has tonsillitis and is a very unhappy teddy made worse by impact this might have on some pretty vital forward planning. :(
