He will be made very welcome. I know for a fact that there is his very Favourite flavour of Cooling Sorbet ...perfect for a nasty sore throat...in the freezer.

I hope your son is feeling better Serinde, I've come in today with some delicious brownies and a nice cup of tea :tea: :cake:

I'm going to stay for a short rest, I've been overdoing things lately and need a break, I was hoping that having one hip replaced would get rid of my pain, but it's sadly not worked out so well.
I didn't understand the nature of my condition as well as I do now, having dysplasia in both hips has meant that despite one operation, I still have symptoms of it, all the physiotherapy I do makes no difference to the levels of pain and I'm not getting better, I guess I was expecting to be pain free at this point, but am now coming to terms with at some point having my other hip replaced probably sooner than I'd want, but I can't face going through that again, so I will be putting it off for as long as possible!
I have been very active this week and as a consequence I'm paying the price, so this week I'm going to take it a bit easier.

Thank you for listening to me moan!

Thanks to your excellent care, Elder Son is now safely at home recuperating. He might even have to go to work soon! Imagine

Lulu, you just make yourself as comfortable as you can and rest. :cake:

May I have a cosy bed by the window please?

I had my 'flu jab last week and the Doctor not only had a cold, he didn't wear gloves and he didn't swab first! Needless to say it got infected, my highest temperature was 39.9c that's 103 in old money, I have a VERY swollen arm and it is the colour of DMC 666.

And the anti-biotics are making me feel sick too.

I'm feeling very sorry for myself :(

Are there any good books in here to read on a book rest (arm to sore to hold even a Kindle)

I can't even stitch at the moment :tantrum:

Oh Dear Maureen, how horrible for you. Here, just sit up a little and I will rest this light weight bookshelf across your lap and here is a selection of books for you to choose from. A cup of tea and some soft to nibble is coming up. Enjoy your book and the view from the window

I truly hope that you get well soon. Listening to an audiobook is another option. That way you can relax, close your eyes and not worry about even turning a page. We have a wide variety to choose from.

Thank you all for kind wishes.

I am feeling a lot better now, I only have one day left of antibiotics and then hopefully I'll be able to taste food properly again. My arm, although still sore is no longer swollen, I just have a large gruesome bruise instead of the alarming shade of red.

Thank you for the books Sally, I was recommended a fabulous book by Liz Trenow called the Forgotten Seamstress about a woman who made a quilt by hand early in 20th Century, it was a very interesting read, talking as it did about the making of the quilt and the fabrics used. After I finished that I began another of hers called the Silk Weaver and I'm enjoying this one too.

Carole, I had forgotten about audiobooks and put The Lord of The Rings on when my eyes were too tired to read.

I stripped the bed and took the linen to the laundry but the Elves wouldn't let me load the machines or re-make the bed. I think they do magic laundry in there.

I have opened the window to let the fresh air in and brought a poinsettia to brighten the room should there need to be anyone else in here.

Thanks again.

I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better!! I hope you let that doctor know what happened to you because of how he administered the shot. Of all the people who can a shot to keep you from getting sick, he obviously should have known better. I'm going to be paying a lot more attention whenever I have to get a shot.

Lord of the Rings is one of my favorites (understatement), I have all the books in paper, kindle and audio and the extended version of the Peter Jackson trilogy of movies. Great choice when you aren't feeling well or just want to escape into a different world.

Had the news of an abnormal brain scan just before Christmas. Still need to see specialists and have further tests, but been advised that major brain surgery is likely.

Goodness - so sorry to hear that Kbaywolf. I hope that you manage to see the specialists for the further tests soon. Will keep everything crossed for you. I do hope that they can give you a better prognosis about whether you will have to have surgery or not.
All the best to you,
~Vana~
