Thank you. Regarding attachment, I did use a sewing machine and did a zigzag stitch on all the horizontal and vertical borders of all the squares. It was pretty tedious. I first pinned along all those borders, then sewed each row. You really can't see the zigzag stitching from the front, and the back is just squares of zigzag stitching. It's very secure and nothing will shift. Then I just rolled some of the backing fabric (the backing fabric being a little larger than the afghan fabric) over the edges of the afghan to create a hem, and sewed that down. You could do it with hand sewing, it would just take longer. The key is to get it all pinned together, very well, with lots of pins before you begin. Or I suppose you could do very secure stitching at only the corners of every block.
