Thanks for the very nice replies--and Carole, some of the yarn I used in this afghan, well let's say I know it's at least 20 years old--I even used various types of yarn and still was pleased with the end result. As for your leftover yarn, I'd love it, but not sure it wouldn't cost a bit to ship it??

Couldn't be that much but my closet would be happy to be rid of it. I know I am not going to use it. I would guess it is 30+years, but its all been in a quilted craft bag in the closet. Resend me your address please and in the next week or so I should be able to get to the post office. Will give you a head's up when its time to look for it.

I love the owl, and the afghan. I could use that today - it's a snowy, chilly 12 degree day here.

The afghan is great. The owl's eye looks straight into one's soul, once again confirming that in cross-stitching 99% of a success depend on the quality of a chart.
