Hey everyone. I'm Dannie and I'm getting back into cross stitch after a 20 year break. And, boy dii I need some encouragement and your expertise as I undertake the project of a lifetime.

I look forward to reading your posts and seeing what you all are working on.

Dannie

 Hi Dannie and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! and welcome back to cross stitching! You have certainly come to the right place if you are looking for encouragement. We have a lot of expertise in motivating and encouraging each other, and a lot of knowledge among our members if you need help as you work on your project. If we don't have someone who can answer your question, we are very likely going to have a few members with a good idea of where to go to find the answer. I am curious about your life time project. What are you working on or going to be working on? I hope you will post pictures. We love pictures. Looking forward to getting to know you,

Carole

Hello & welcome.

Love to see 'projects of a lifetime', the are great to see progress on, and the group can help during times when things seem to be going slowly.

Regards,

Richard.

My "life time project" is a combination of three pictures of my son's English Bulldogs (Winston, Pistol, and Meatball). And it's going to be surprise gift for his when I get it done. Lordy I just didn't stop to think about the complexity and size when I had the graph made. One color has over 3200 stitches and there's 64 colors. I'll upload a picture so you all can see it and send me lots and lots of encouragement.

Now I really need too know the best floor stand to purchase. One that's stable and able to hold the graph and fabric. Help me please. Thanks everyone for the welcome and good wishes.

Dannie, you are not alone here in having picked a huge project.
There are a few members here with big projects; vanessajf has a few huge projects on the go, one of her smaller ones has 84 colours - I leave you to find the biggest, it's VAST. The mind boggles sometimes, but the amazement never stops.
I'm 2 years into two projects too, both at around 100,000 stitches and 115 colours. Maybe I'll finish in 2020, maybe not.

Anyway, a good few of us are in the same boat and know the problems and fun. We'll try & help with the problems and share the fun. I'm sure the support here has meant that a number of projects that would otherwise have been abandoned have been finished, which can only be good.

Regards

Richard.
