Hélène's Angel Of The Morning. FINISHED! 15/03/20

Post by poppy »

Sally's (aka Squirrel) Angel Of The Morning struck a chord with me. I found it truly amazing and was not sure if I were able to stitch such a masterpiece.

With Sally's help ( It is so good to be on this forum! :)), I decided to take the plunge and stitch this beautiful design
Here is my fabric, gridded with Sulky thread. It is a piece of 28 Count Lugana, 18"x"27" in dimension. I bought it from http://www.picturethisplus.com The colour is Zephyr. It is light blue with "clouds" in it. It came pre-hemmed, which was a bonus.

Here we go for another Cross Stitch journey, a fairy long one this time... :D

Good luck with it, it should look great when finished.

As for not being able to do it... Cross stitch really is the easiest of the embroidery types (otherwise I'd find it impossible), and it is literally one stitch after another. If you can get one stitch in the right place, then you can put one in next to it, and just repeat ad nauseam. If anything, finishing a project is more a triumph of stubbornness rather than any real skill - or at least that's what I've always felt.

Regards,

Richard

That really made me laugh  but there is an element of truth in it and I am definitively stubborn , which in this case, is a good thing.

You are going to a beautiful job of stitching and end up with a stunning angel to look down on you every morning! All stitching is one stitch at a time (even if you stitch //// one way and \\\\ another). The fabric looks like a perfect one for this design. I am really looking forward to watching your progress on this one.

I think I can move this for you Helene. A lot of members will go straight to the SAL section if they don't have a lot of time but want to check on project updates. I usually just look at new posts but if I am crunched for time I just check that section and will go back later to see what else I might have missed.

Done!

Ooooh Helene, that fabric is beautiful, I clicked on the link - thank you, and found it, Angel will look fabulous on the cloudy blue.

I am certain you can do this, as Richard said it is all just one stitch at a time, and you made such a fantastic job of your Rainbow Fairy, I know you will be fine with Angel.

The lovely members here are always ready to offer encouragement too if you feel the need.

Can't wait to see your start.

Look forward to seeing you stitch this Helene, love the fabric you chose. Sally's is gorgeous so yours will be just as good. Will enjoy seeing you work on this as I enjoyed seeing Sally's. :D

Thank you Maureen, Vanessa and Izzi! :D

Once on the Q Frame, the evenweave seems "to open up" much more and consequently, easier to see. I like the softness of the fabric.
The grid is very helpful and I am glad I gridded the fabric, although it took some time. It is a bit like a safety net!

:whoop: :whoop: :whoop: A beautiful start Helene and your stitching is beautifully neat and even. There is a ton of work in those wings as there are several shades and one is constantly changing needles. Good practice for further down for sure. :whoop: :whoop: :whoop:

This is such a lovely design and your stitches are so beautifully neat and even, it's a great start. Well done.

Will you be stitching her face 1 over 1?

I'm really looking forward to your updates.

Great start! Gridding is a pain, but so useful.
