Welcome to the forum from a cloudy Kent.

Kittens, especially, are popular here - well, you can see from my avatar that anything feline is appreciated! I look forward to seeing your work & progress.

Regards,

Richard.

 Hi Carolyn and welcome to the forum from a getting warmer every day South Carolina! You will find that cats, kittens, dogs and other assorted animals are very often the subject of projects here. I always have one or two (or more  ) in my WIP list. I hope that you will post some pictures of your work. We love pictures! Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi Carolyn  from sunny but chilly Brisbane where it is slowly warming up. Carolyn is my legal name but I am generally known as Sally. - my mother thoughts I wouldn't like such an old fashioned name so gave me a fancier one. It is only since I moved to Australia some years ago that I am now known more as Carolyn than any other name.

Well now how lovely that you have joined us and yes heaps of us love kittens/cats and a few dogs too. A year or so back one of the members was stitching the Big Cats (lions/tigers etc) too.

Well I prefer dogs, but welcome from me in SW France.
We have had as many as 4 cats here, all feral/domesticated and now sadly prowling in the upper ether over the :rainbow: bridge. Now we have a mouse problem!! so I like cats for their usefulness!

Looking forward to what you've been stitching. :whoop:

Hi Carolyn, and welcome from the West of Scotland!

We LOVE :camera: Just because you're a newbie, doesn't mean you can't start a SAL thread and show off your stitching. In fact, we encourage it! :D (SAL here doesn't really mean what it does on other forums -- to us it's a thread you start to showcase a design or designs you are working on.)

I don't think I have ever seen anyone give or get feedback like that. I think I can safely say that "ain't gonna happen here". Sometimes someone might comment on the type of design you've chosen saying something like "not what I would have picked, but you are doing a lovely job" and that doesn't happen very often. I would suggest that you read some of the threads in the SAL Section to get an idea. I most certainly hope that eases your concerns about the type of feedback you can expect to receive. And never ever be afraid to ask for help or for information. We love to help and teach each other. Someone will usually know the answer or have a good idea of where to go to find it.

Well, now, that's just wrong. I think you'll find us a kinder, gentler group. :-)

How utterly disgusting of them and oh so rude too. As Carole said we don't do that sort of thing here, we love to encourage each other and questions about anything gets answered much more gently than that. We were all beginners once upon a time and most of us remember that time. :)

Hi again Carolyn, have replied to your welcome message to me.

Just re-read your original post read & the other replies since I first posted, sound awful forum you were on before. We all have different tastes in subjects to stitch. I am sure some will not like mine but it is not only the subject people choose but how they stitch it; and if someone does need encouragement to keep going I for one would give it. The more you do something the better you get. No one was born being great at everything - practice makes perfect my Mam used to tell me when I was learning handicrafts & was unhappy with what I'd done.

Look forward to seeing what you are stitching :D As I said on another reply, will put mine on when I've finished pansy I am working now.

Well you did the right thing by coming here. :grouphug:

I have been known to say that a design is not to my taste (not likely to stich fairies, fantasy or hearts) but I can appreciate beautiful stitching whatever the subject.

Hi Carolyn and welcome to the forum from Germany!
I'm sure you will find this to be a place with only kind people!
Sure, if you asks for a very honest feedback in order to maybe improve your work, you'll get it, also tastes might differ, but I have always found that members express their thoughts in the most gentle way here.
