I absolutely agree. I use something very similar, but even less fashionable.

Regards

Richard.

Can't take a photo, so here's the e-bay sale of an identical headset:

:applesauce: :applesauce: very interesting--may need to look into something like that--hopefully they are pretty comfortable, and can they be worn with prescription glasses??

can they be worn with prescription glasses??
Good question, Karen. I don't wear them myself so I went to Amazon and found someone else who asked that question... and here are 6 answers:

1. Yes. Though not as snug because the bridge of the magnifier will compete with your glasses for the same location on bridge of your nose. I have tried and it works okay, but requires some adjusting. I prefer to wear mine without my regular glasses.

2. Yes. It requires adjusting but it works. It's better without my glasses but I just can't focus in without them. I use them so I can do my cross stitch. The light is great. Yes it's awkward but I can finally see to do my crafts again!

3. Yes, it can be worn over glasses. Please adjust the nose bridge holder before wearing it.

4. Yes it can but I understand that it might not be comfortable doing so. I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you.

5. Good question and the answer is "yes". Even with the magnification, I still use my glasses...can't see without them :)

6. I would not wear them over your prescription glasses. The lenses included in the package have spherical correction, similar to reading glasses. They work great for short distances,. Just don't use them when you look farther into distance, as they may eventually stress your eye muscles and damage your eyesight.Just take your regular prescription glasses off when you do precision work, and revert back to your regular glasses when you're done. Not very efficient, but far more effective and comfortable.

I am always in awe of anyone who can actually use these things :-) - especially when you're already wearing glasses it can be tricky, and wearing them without your glasses would presumably only work if your regular glasses weren't very strong (mine are -8 or thereabouts in both eyes)

My solution (after talking to an eye specialist who told me "get the glasses that work for whatever it is you do") was to get a cheap pair of reading glasses made up to about 2 or 3 points stronger than my prescription (so if my prescription said add +1 to the usual glasses for reading, mine are +3 or +4 - I can't exactly remember which). They are comfortable for longer periods (even though slightly heavier than my usual glasses because of cheap frame and slightly thicker lenses), work like a ready-focused magnifying glass, and cost me £39, which is more expensive than the headsets but at least I actually use these :-)
