I don't know what it is either. I've used painter's tape. I think it holds better than masking tape does.

Googletranslate says it is designers/paper/decorative tape. I would not recommend it on small pieces of fabric as it will pull out some threads when being removed. Personally I belive in good old method- a needle and thread and stitching over the edge(no idea what the English term for it is). Works for me.

I generally do as Podolyanka suggests, and hem the edge loosely with a blanket stitch. I do it loosely due more to incompetence than intention.

Regards,

Richard.

Richard, thank you for the word I was looking for- "hem".

I will admit to simply cutting my fabric large enough for the fraying not to matter....

I always machine stitch mine, it takes a couple minutes at most and have never had any fraying problems, but i don't bother at all for small things like cards etc they don't take long enough for stuff to fray.

Yup I do that too!
Tried masking tape once.. and once some other tape! Never again!
Zig-zag on the machine every time! I'm lucky to have my sewing machine is always out on my sewing desk so it's no bother to plug it in. :D

I tried masking tape once but did not like it. It is easy and quick enough just to hem the fabric, IMO :D
