An Onerous Project.. any recommendations and tips?

Post by Spec1alkay »

I am looking to recreate this blanket here
with a cross stitch or embroidery (most likely back stitch) twist. I am a newbie that will be practicing extensively before I ever tackle this, but even so I am and will be unfamiliar with the fabrics and thread I should use to go about it. Anyone have any recommendations on fabrics and thread would be best suited for the task? Any tips on technique would be appreciated as well.
Side note: I'm aware this will take me multiple years :wip:

Hello Spec1alkay and welcome to the forum from South Carolina! And welcome to cross stitching! I can't see your photos which I am sorry about because I have stitched a lot of afghans in my day and am always interested to see what others are doing. Stitching a large project is really not very different than stitching a small one, other than it is bigger and takes a lot of time and a lot of patience. This thread, Posting a picture in a thread helps explain how to do this. It does need to be revised since Photobucket is no longer a free website, but I'm pretty sure the process is the same. There are a variety of websites which you can use. A lot of us have switched to PostImages.com which is pretty easy to use. If you need help, let us know.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Carole

Hi Spec1alKay and welcome! Judging by the code that's visible you are trying to show us a picture that is actually only on your computer (your D drive, to be precise); as Carole says, it will have to be Somewhere Out There on the internet for you to link to it here. Good luck!
