Yes, I can see why the holes might bug you. If you feel very strongly about it, fill in the empty areas with stranded cotton the same colour as the background!

Thank you, Mabel, for your kind respond. The fabric(in the kit and in the instruction) is white 14 ct Zweighart Aida. So I did think about filling in the empty areas with 1stand crosses of white thread. But first will finish the whole picture. Those who stitched it, keep saying, "Do exactly as the designers want you to". But those holes...

I'd be inclined to do that, too, Mabel. At least there's no dreaded backstitch on the dogs...

Amazing detail, Lyudmila. Those dogs are very realistic.
I know what you mean about unstitched areas on Aida.
I don't like that effect either and have stitched those areas in the same as the background fabric colour just as others have suggested.

I agree. The dogs are absolutely beautifully stitched!!! Even doing a 1/2 stitch in the empty areas would help fill in the areas .

Thank you, Sally. But this so far is the slowest work in my experience.

The effect is lovely though - I hope you don't mind that it's slower than usual!

I agree! That is how I felt about the two baby samplers I did. Seemed like it took forever but was worth it. I think this piece will be worth it in the end.

This is lovely Lyudmila, the reeds seem to have quite a few colour changes in them, I can see why it's a slower stitch than your usual speed.

I hope you are still enjoying it though.

It is as if the viewer is looking through an early morning mist. It's very effective.

It might be slow going, but it’s going to be beautiful and definitely worth the time.

I can see all the detail in the background might be slow going, but it will be well worth it. It’s looking great so far!

Thank you very much, Serinde.
Those who see the photo, please, dont believe your eyes, as since the day before yesterday when the photo was taken, I now have all the grass that is under the dog with dark spots and some sky.

It looks like nothing, but for a picture 40x40cm, there is some progress.
