Thank you - it's my Controversial Decision as some of the tutors don't like me using this technique in the (basic) Certificate But I like the look of it, so I'll just take whatever decision they make about it.

And finally, faces
Apart from any tweaking/unpicking/restitching the tutor advises me to do tomorrow, the actual stitching is done.
Now I have to mount it, which is challenging with goldwork because during a lot of the mounting process your work is upside down on a hard surface, which you don't want goldwork to be So we use a bubblewrap frame to support it, but it's still a very scary process... Most of ti should get donw tomorrow.

Definitely on track for the deadline
I finished the lacing today; we're told that if you've done the herringbone stitching and the lacing and your fingers aren't sore, it isn't tight enough
The pins remain in until Saturday, when we tighten up the lacing if the fabric has slackened at all, and then sew on the backing. And then get rid of all the pin holes in the edges...

Not the back of the stitching as you can see from the mount board and lacing - but they do see how neatly you cover the back with a rectangle of sateen, attached with invisible stitches and with an even width of fabric visible around it, and yes they do check the edges for pin holes !
