Star Wars Afghan 02/19/2023 Chewbaca

Finally got enough done to post an update. Seems like I've been busier than usual but couldn't begin to say why except for our Thanksgiving holiday. And the fact that when Mr. occurs in the loose weave section it is a real pain in the patookie to deal with. It slows the stitching down when I get to this section. When I get back to the regular weave I am always surprised to find that my count is still accurate. Or at least accurate enough that mistakes are well hidden.

The cross stitching is finished on Luke and the backstitching has begun. Only 3 more characters to do. I'm seriously thinking of having my son open a gift with this not quite done afghan so he can see what's coming. I know I will not be able to hold it until his birthday at the end of May and selfishly want it to be a gift at a time that is special for gift giving. I think I'll have him guess the next ones as they progress so we'll have a game of it.

My son loved the afghan even though I had to take it back so I can finish it. Haven't had a lot of time to make much progress on this character, but enough that those familiar with Star Wars characters shouldn't have too much difficulty in guessing this one. My son knew it right away even with less done than the current photo.

Funny story. When I was in highschool and the first Star Wars movie came out there was a contest on the radio. My friend won a date with Chewbacca. He took her out for dinner, in full costume. Lol.

Now that the holidays are over, I'm hoping to be able to move a little more quickly on this. My stitchy bug is ready to move back to other projects but so far I've been able to keep him in check. Are all stitchy bugs male? Never thought about it until I typed that last sentence. Or should it be keep it in check?
