2020 Stashmas: Show and Tell
This will be the thread to show off your lovely Stashmas trees!
Re: 2020 Stashmas: Show and Tell
Here is mine. I didn't have any suitable patterned fabrics so used plain green sheeting and curtain lining for the background.

Lovely in its simplicity, the gold braid makes such an effective pattern!

Re: 2020 Stashmas: Show and Tell
Hello, here are mine
As you can see I made mine into danglys, after completing the stitching, I didn't feel confident enough to cut the linen so close to the foundation stitches, so I left a small border and folded the fabric over and used fabric glue to hold it together, then I backed them with cream felt to match the fabric as the green felt I had was too dark.
This is the first time I have done embroidery/stitching of this kind so I had a practise on a doodle cloth and I am so glad I did - the first effort was like nothing you have ever seen before, the second was a little better but loose in areas and tight in others and the third effort was getting there.
The first Tree is for me.
The second is for dear friends, and I had tried to do the foundation stitches by eye rather than marking them out with a pencil, so the stitches ended up being too close together but I quite like the effect, on this one I had also added two small trees between the two outer layers of fabric, the Christmas Tree and the linen, as I had wanted to go for a sort of padded effect and it worked beautifully, when I added the beads I pulled them tight in the way you would attach beads to cross stitch and the effect was lovely, the beads indented beautifully, where it all went a bit skew-whiff was when I glued the cream felt on to the linen, the glue must have seeped through and stuck some areas together, I still like the effect though, in real life it does look a bit more pouffy that it does in the photograph.
The third Tree is for another dear friend who has been a god-send collecting bits of shopping for me here and there.
Overall I am chuffed to bits with how they have turned out. (even if it did mean putting aside my current projects)
A big THANK YOU to our Chief Elf Mabel for sharing this lovely clever design and another big THANK YOU to our Deputy Chief Elf Serinde for printing out the instructions for me when my printer broke.
Edited to add I made the twisted cord from the Perle #5

I'm afraid I can't see the picture which is a real shame because your description sounds lovely, especially the one with the indented beads! Glad you enjoyed this foray into embroidery, who knows what you might not try next...

Oh no, I posted the link on my laptop and it was showing up for me, I've just tried on my tablet and it's still showing, I don't know what to suggest Mabel, maybe log off and come back on again and see if it works? If not I can try to upload it again?

Wow! I love the way you've finished them, I'd never have thought of turning them into ornaments like that! Would you allow me to add your picture to the Stitchers' Gallery on my website, where I try to people ways of finishing things?

Of course Mabel! I would be honoured, if you think they are good enough.
Thank you again for sharing this lovely design with the forum, it was a real pleasure to stitch these (once I got the hang of it)

Perfect trees! I love them all.
@ Mags... The gold braid really sets your tree off to perfection and the green outline brings the whole design out.
@Maureen .... Well I never! Three trees no less! They are really festive on the.background fabric. Gold baubles add the right amount of Bling!
Superb Stashma Trees both of you.
