Roland’s work — 2021 picture update Dec 13

Post by Roland »

New year = new thread.

Here are my two WIPs I am starting the year with. I also have another stocking kitted up and will start it later this month.

A picture does not do justice to the snowman stocking. Both pictures use a different number of threads for different stitches, and both use full and half stitches. But the snowman is very textured...almost layered looking. The count is so teeny-tiny, I can’t work on it for long periods at a time though.

That village scene is so beautiful, so detailed, it's lovely.

The snowman is so lovely too.

Well done working on the challenges of different numbers of strands with these.

What a shame we can't see the full effect, but even "flat" on the screen both look gorgeous!

I always do my stitches / on bottom and \ on top. And I do the half stitches /. But, this was given to me by squirrel, and She does her half stitches the opposite. But....I think her way looks better.

That is a lovely update and I hadn't realised I do the half stitches differently - and from memory that design has a lot of half stitches. :D :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: .

The tree skirt also has a lot of half stitches, and I’m doing it the opposite way. Your way looks better, but consistency is important, so I’ll f8nished the skirt the way I started it. But in future....I’m doing half’s in direction of top of stitch.

The half stitch goes in the same direction as the top leg of the stitch. In the direction of the bottom leg it goes only if it is opposed to the main image(as background).
Both your WIPs are so beautifully stitched. :applesauce:

What a lovely scene, that will look gorgeous once it's in place! (Do you have a Christmas in mind when you want it finished by, or are you allowing it to grow at its own pace?)

I’m hoping to give it to my niece this year.

They had planned to get married spring 2020, but then eloped November 2019, but still planned the big wedding in the spring. Of course, it got delayed and rescheduled for summer 2020, which got cancelled. I had not bought them a present yet, and offered a tree skirt, which they both said yes. No way I could get it ready last year. So, it’s my priority for this year.
