This is looking so good! I love the way it contrasts with the fabric.

I was working on this one.
And then…..the baby was born. So, back to this one. And discovered, as well as the name, I missed some backstitch and at least 100 French knots.

A lovely name for the new baby and a lovely stocking with her name on it
Jo
P.S. Good luck with the backstitching and the french knots

The story behind this stocking…..
Sally sent it to me in 2018. As soon as I saw it, I decided it would be for my niece when she eventually had a baby. At the time, she didn’t have a boyfriend. The reason I decided it was for her is, it is one of the most beautiful patterns I have ever seen, and one of the most difficult I have ever done. But worth every
Years before, this niece’s brother had a baby. At the shower I gave them a set of books and a card…the front of the card had a picture of Aida cloth, thread, and a pattern book, and a dated a few months previous. Open one side of card and it had a partially sewn stocking and current date. Open again and it was a picture of the stocking completed and a future date. My nephew didn’t get it….but my niece went crazy. “The books are not the present….oh my goodness….she’s making a stocking”. I’ve never seen anyone get so excited. That’s why when Sally sent me this one, I decided it would be for that nieces first baby.
Now, I realize I posted yesterday, but I’m posting again because this is where I tend to notice if I’ve missed anything. And I think the stitching is complete.

The French knots are worth the effort. Those snow flakes really add so much.
And thank you Sally.

I love the history behind this. A really lovely stocking and will be treasured.
French knot snowflakes really do add to the design.

Re: Roland’s work — 2021 picture update Nov 23
This picture really requires all the backstitching. But so much is in 3799….I’m getting bored. Lol
I don’t think this one will be delivered in time for Christmas, which I guess is OK. I don’t think they know they are ever getting one. I’ve never met the baby’s mom, and I’ve only met his dad a few times. But, he is my son’s best friend, and he helped my son through an extremely difficult few years, and I believe he saved his life. So, a stocking seems a small thank you, but, at least it’s a really nice stocking.

It's more than a really nice stocking! I'm sure it will become an heirloom, and a physical representation of friendship.
