Re: 2022 St Cross Stitchers Clinic & Hospital

Post by richardandtracy »

I was fortunate last week in that I did some temperature testing of some foam. It involved travelling to a test house 12 miles away, staying there and doing 120 height measurements between 2 & 3 times a day (depending on temperature stabilisation times). That enabled me to work while also missing out on all the rush-rush-rush that's going on at our factory at the moment. Meant I was able to stick the week & do something useful without retiring to bed with exhaustion.

Our 10 day design container was made in the last 2 weeks and was tested this morning. It passed its safety checks & is approved for use. We simply need to make a lot of them now. Oh, I forgot, the most protracted part of any container design is ahead... Getting the customer to finalise the labels they want on it. Every Tom, Dick & Harry thinks they know enough about what is wanted on the container, and can never agree with anyone else. In the end I'm sure we'll have to tell them what's going on it regardless because of the transport requirement legislation, and they will reluctantly agree. Somehow, the final labels will be almost identical to what we first proposed and before all the arguments.

Regards,

Richard

Glad you were able to progress something necessary without exhausting yourself.

Re labels. Now, I wonder why that sounds familiar? :thinks: :anotherfrog:

Glad you found a way of doing the work required while staying away from the hubbub.

As for labels - echoing Serinde...

Eye clinic yesterday for check-up on flashing eyes (that doesn't sound quite right, but you know what I mean) and consultant said everything looked tickty-boo and I needn't come back unless I get new symptoms     !

It's just your 'Dark & Mysterious' side coming to the fore with those flashing eyes.

Alternatively you have a large gamma ray pulse generator nearby and you are seeing the light generated as a result of a small number of interactions between the rays and your eye fluid inside your eye when the pulse happened. Regard it as vastly less likely than you being 'Dark & Mysterious'.

Richard.

I had a 'flu and Covid jab on Saturday. Still in bed feeling lousy. All of us seem to have a strong reaction to the Covid jab. I was hoping that having had Covid at the beginning of last month, I wouldn't react so badly, instead, it's worse this time. Ahh well, hopefully I'll be recovered tomorrow.

Regards,

Richard.

Hope you feel better soon, Richard. When I had Covid, I was told by my doctor that I shouldn't get the booster shot for, I think, 90 days. Last month I got my flu shot at the pharmacy in my left arm and the next day my Covid booster in my right arm at the Doctor's office. Fortunately, the only reaction I had was two sore arms for a day or so. Still, it's better than getting either virus.

The recommendation is not to have a booster for 30 days after testing negative round here. A colleague who's had Covid a few days before me, did the same a week ago and had no problems whatsoever. Not impressed!
The company is suffering quite badly from Covid at the moment. Last Monday 50% of the shop floor were off with it. Fortunately no-one has been hospitalised. We managed to avoid it before the vaccine was available.

Pampering (but no fussing) ordered by Dr Tiny Cat.

I had both flu and Covid booster last Monday, and no serious reaction apart from egg-sized lump on one, probably Covid, as that happened last time. DH, however, felt rotten for about 3 days. So it's apparently a thing.

I'm not out in the real world much, but it sounds as if your company is really suffering. I suppose the good thing is that they are staying away when "mildly" ill -- not like the bad old days, when workers just soldiered through (and infected everyone else in the process).

We are suffering rather a lot, and have a huge (for the size of the company), urgent contract where we're just about meeting the delivery dates. Getting Covid is making things somewhat fraught & there's a danger of burn-out if we don't look out.

Well, take your time recovering as it will be worse for the company in the long run if you (and others) end up with long Covid.
Someone told me that when recovering from anything viral the motto is "If you're not bored, you're probably doing too much."

That's a great suggestion! I shall endeavor to be thoroughly bored.

I fear I cannot this weekend, R&R is a very dim possibility.

I have, what will probably turn into a 100 page, stress report to start and finish by Monday. Add possibly another 20 pages to the already 125Mb/600 page container manual on how to use the spacecraft prop we have designed, then do all the required safety assessment documents. All so I can e-mail them to our customer before end of work, Monday. Not much to do then.

Admittedly, at least 50% of the documents will be copy & paste from existing ones, which reduces the thinking time needed. However, I expect to do up to 20 hours work over the weekend.

Richard

It looks like I'll be starting the new year with hospital appointments because of weight loss and tingling/nerve ending stuff plus physio for one impinged shoulder and one arm with an as yet unidentified problem. Sigh. Glad they are taking things seriously and giving me a full MOT, but it does feel as though I'm slowly falling to bits...

:x:  that the doctors will be able to fix what isn’t working properly and get you back to feeling good again. It is just hard to have the patience sometimes waiting for a full recovery from some issues. At least it always has been for me. You’ve had a tough few month lately and hopefully the next few will be better. Kepping you in my thoughts and prayers.
