Nicola's Needlework
A new year a new thread! I'm still slowly working my way through the Sweet Peas. The colours in this are an absolute joy and there are many different half stitches - vertical, horizontal and quarter! But I don't mind it's one of the reasons I purposely used evenweave as it's much easier to do those on that kind of fabric

Re: Nicola's Needlework 2022
A little update on Sweet Pea Posy!
And after placing an order for fabric with DMC (based in France) then waiting an age for it in customs, to find out that DPD are sending it back to DMC! Perhaps not enough information on the customs form? Damage in transit? I'll never know so whilst it's on its way back to them if they contact me I'll just ask for a refund. I then went on stitcher.co.uk yesterday morning and ordered the same things for them to turn up today! So evenweave is now on the frame for Daffodil Blooms and oh my the colours are wonderful!

Those are lovely bright colours, just what we all need to be working with on a dreary damp winter's day

BUT!! Love those sweet peas and the daffodils kit is something special. They are going to be a real contrast to the almost pastel shades.

Re: Nicola's Needlework 2022
OK the ultimate question asked by most stitchers! To aida or to evenweave? I've stitched a small sample on each as I can't honestly decide! I love the bright white aida which I think will show up the Daffodils really well but the evenweave is much nicer to stitch even though the rows are a bit 'wavy'. Any ideas?

Re: Nicola's Needlework 2022
Yes, a very unhelpful one: go with what you think you will enjoy most a) to work on and b) to look at when it's finished. I'm afraid you're the only person who can answer that!

Re: Nicola's Needlework 2022
I use evenweave on pictures that are detailed and have half stitches as they are easier to do on it (I have since learnt to use Chenille needles on Aida the points help get the stitch through the tough centres).
I use Aida for quick fun pieces that I don't want to do under the magnifier and I am also short sighted so I don't notice the big holes as much once they are finished

Re: Nicola's Needlework 2022
I've used evenweave almost exclusively for a good while now and only use Aida in darker colours for cushions where the holes don't show so much and I don't like working on dark evenweave...eyesight not so sharp as it was.
If you like the bright white do you have any evenweave in that shade?

Re: Nicola's Needlework 2022
I also use evenweave more than any other fabric, occasionally linen. I have also used 22 ct Hardinger fabric both for regular cross stitch as well as for Hardinger patterns. That might be an option, if you have any of that.

Re: Nicola's Needlework 2022
I brought down Sweet Peas this morning as I had the house to myself and Daffodil Blooms is now on the Lowery upstairs in my room. It was nice to sit with a view of the garden and proper daylight instead of my lamp
Now I'm upstairs stitching Daffodils for a couple of hours before bed. I decided to go with the aida we now have a small outline of the little Narcissus on the left hand side.
