Well, that went well.

MIL's care home was unaware of the fact she was being picked up. (Tracy checked with MIL's social worker, who had confirmed it with the manager last week.. some organisation!). As a result both MIL and the deputy manager were totally unready, unpacked and needed Enya and I to pack for MIL.

Got her home, got her a meal etc, and waited for the care worker who came as planned for the evening visit. Very pleased with that side.

We left for home as MIL was getting ready for bed and was quite tired.

So far, so good...

Regards,

Richard.

Thank you kindly. MIL is OK and seems to have enjoyed the day with us. Apart from breaking the Christmas Cake into many, many pieces before icing it last Thursday, almost everything went roughly to plan. And I managed to glue most of the cake together with Apricot Jam before putting on the marzipan, so it worked out OK. Even the timing for the meal worked out well.

Hope everyone else had a good day too.

Regards,

Richard.

We had a lovely Christmas Eve. We started having the kids and then them with their kids years ago. Left everyone free to go see everyone else or not on Christmas Day. It was also (selfishly) fun because when we got to opening presents, the children had not yet been overwhelmed by presents and by Santa. Its a somewhat shorter time because as the 9 y.o. came out of her grandmother's bedroom at about 9:30 in an almost, but not quite, state of panic to tell us that there had been a news report that Santa was seen flying over Africa and she needed to know how far away that was because they had to go home soon to get to bed. This from the girl that always has a reason to stay longer not shorter.
