Definitely a thing. I first started using curved needles for mounting my Certificate pieces and I find you have to hold them quite differently from ordinary ones, I sort of grab them in the middle of the curve. They do make things like oversewing plunged ends a lot easier though!

I'll give your solution a try. I've never been so frustrated with a needle, but I could understand that if I could only hold on to the darn thing, it would be useful!

I used a curved needle recently so quite understand the frustration. :tantrum: I was stitching some padding under a hat band because D/H had been given a boater for a 1920's evening and it wasn't his size. Not only was the needle difficult to manage but the stitching area was rather restricted.

Not something I have actually acquired now, but you may know I have a Sonata seat stand which I find really helpful to take to stitching groups when the Lowry is impractical, and at the moment it is on special offer at Siesta, £5 off so now £24.95.

Just sayin' ;-)

Oh, here's a picture of it so you know what it looks like, and here's my review of it on FoF

I have a similar one with a 10" hoop. It has DMC printed on it.
It was given to me many years ago by a Forum Member ( I am sorry but I cannot remember who that lovely person was  )
I use it at my craft afternoon too.
I've worn out the original brass screws but managed to get more from Siesta. :applesauce: Amazing service from that firm, especially as I hadn't bought the stand from them. :applesauce:

Is the hoop attached to yours? Mine is just a clamp so I can use it with any of my regular hoops. I took it to Cake & Craft yesterday, holding the Dragon.

This is mine! BUT the last time I looked it was about £35. Not this ridiculous price!!
https://www.dmc.com/GB/en-GB/products/b ... idery-hoop

Siesta used to make one similar and it was possible to buy "hoops on a stick" of different sizes and I bought a couple of smaller which fitted the DMC one perfectly. I have to say that they weren't as robust as mine but when the brass screws wore out on my original 10" hoop Siesta were able to supply replacements. I've had this set for about 15yrs and it wasn't new when I was given it. It's robust and still amazing .It was my only set up for many years before I bought the Millennium frame and Aristo stand from Needleneeds.

By unscrewing the wooden grub screw on the stem the hoop can be raised or lowered as well as totally removed. I also bought a clamp to fit Q Snap frame as well as other hoops. That looks similar to your clamp.

I've seen one on Amazon similar but it doesn't look very robust.

Edit... just found another here https://royal-needlework.org.uk/product ... p-options/
That looks like the Siesta model as you can buy it with a set of different hoop sizes.

And this is the clamp that I have too https://royal-needlework.org.uk/product ... nd-frames/

On Fleabay I spotted someone with what claimed to be a TW Peacock kit minus the fabric for £10 inc P&P. Those of you who have been following along on my TW Peacock SAL will know I have been running out of various colours :tantrum: Luckily I have been able to source the missing ones from my Stash but it looked useful:

so I brought it  . I am not sure but with two different styles of card and duplicates of the thread colours this may actually be two sets of threads. The beads that came with it are wrong: The Peacock uses Millhill gold seed beads, with this came some purple seed beads and some larger gold beads, neither of which are on this piece.

TW seems to like using similar colours so these will get me out of a hole - especially the spare Kreinik Peacock blending filement. :D

Good find! But lucky you got it for spares, rather than some poor stitcher who thought they'd found a real TW treasure, only to be disappointed that the "kit" wasn't quite what it should have been. :thinks:

Hmm.

How?

Are the boxes mostly based on plastic canvas or what? I am intrigued.
Good find.

They are made from mountboard bits that are covered in fabric, either using sticky tape or lacing, and then slip-stitched/ladder-stitched together, each "wall" consisting of an internal and an external bit. I have just finished building the external box around the internal box on my "Introduction to Box Making" course kit, and will post pics soon!

My SIL has been inviting me to go shopping with her to second hand stores on Seniors Discount Days. I found a bag of beading supplies for about $7.50 (CAD). The 3 wheels of cording would usually cost that much.

Then I dug out my other supplies.

Next week I’m going to buy myself a late birthday present. A pair of crimping pliers, and a pair of one step looper pliers. I didn’t even know I needed crippling pliers, but there were some crimping beads in the pile of stuff I just bought, so I looked them up. Definitely will get used.

I have a few plans. I’m also ordering 2 more sets of pliers. Who knew there were so many kinds just for beading.
