The next question is the definition of low loft batting for finishing decorations. I consulted Mr Google, and what came back was Vlieseline H250/305, which seems very, well, stiff. I guess I thought it was to give the decoration a bit of 3-d-ness, but perhaps I have that wrong. Any suggestions?

"low loft batting" to me suggests something not too puffy, but not too stiff either. For some ornaments I have used something that feels quite soft and almost fleecy, like a very soft and very slightly fluffy felt, but I can't remember what it's called! It's a medium weight. I'll see if I can find out.

I have also asked Mary Corbet, as it is for her wreaths, and am awaiting a reply.

Got a reply from MC, which was helpful. Just waiting for delivery.

In the meantime, Christmas preparations go on. I have worked out the middle size of star, and will make it just as soon as I get done with the Nancy Nicholson cat ornament... (of course, they need their hangers and the beads are much shinier...)
