KittyZ's stitching 2023

Post by KittyZ »

Hello! I joined the forum last spring but got busy with work and family things so I didn't have much time to stitch.
It's a new year and I'm working on some new things so I thought I would start a new thread with what I am working on.
I now have a baby grandson who is 2 months old so the main project I am working on is this birth announcement called Animal Friends.

This is my progress so far

I will try to catch up with commenting on some of your current stitching, I'm sorry that I have only had time to lurk lately.
Also I have made a little more progress on stitching two other cat themed things I started last year so let me know if you all would like to see a couple of photos of them as well.

Lovely to see you KittyZ! And you are coming along really well with the birth announcement -- congratulations on the new grandson!

As if you need to ask. We ALWAYS like to see :camera: of stitching if you want to show us. Then we can pull up the magic bench (actually I think we went upmarket to sofas...) and cheer you on. :D :wip:

I love that one :D

How did you decide where you were going to start it? (I couldn't see any markers for the centre or the edges )

:applesauce: :applesauce: Great start on the birth sampler. These are the most fun projects to stitch. Congratulations on the birth of your new grandson. And I will echo Serinde that YES! We would love to see what other projects you have done, are doing and are planning on doing. We love photos and never get tired of updates. And when you are to busy to post, feel free to lurk (even though we like knowing that you are still with us). We have a lot of "lurkers" based on the number of guests who are often with us. Happy to know you were one of them!

Thanks for all the nice replies!
Jo, I started in the middle of the design on the blue shirt, I do cross country stitching.
I like to stitch from the middle to the top right, then work my way down & to the left.
I am doing smaller projects right now, the birth sampler will be about 11 x 7 inches when done.

Here is one of my other pieces that is on hold for now, it should be done by Christmas 2023.
It was slow going on the presents & bows with fractional stitches so I am happy I finally got down to the cat.

:applesauce: :applesauce: Lovely stitching on your Christmas piece! I find that doing fractional on aida cloth can be tricky, at least the 1/4 stitches but you've done very well. And once the backstitching is done, it will be perfect!

Here's an update on my progress on the birth announcement.

Also the progress on a kitty Christmas ornament that is on hold until the baby cross stitch is done.

I already stitched the tuxedo cat last year, this is the blue eyed kitty wearing a wreath.

It is stitched on plastic canvas.

Thank you for the nice replies. I like the cat ornament because it looks like one of my two cats.
I've been working on the baby sampler, it's more than halfway done now.

I didn't realize how much white on white I would be stitching for the bunny and dog.

White on white is not fun, but you're making the best of it. The sampler is going to be fantastic.

They are all lovely projects, but the birth sampler is going to be adorable.

The white on white is definitely worth it, unstitched just doesn't look the same
