All the plain backstitch on the dragon is now done. I need to do the metallic backstitch, the beads, and the hemstitch and then he's done and ready for his box! (Talking of boxes, I have made a start on the Box-Making course, but not much to show yet.)

I would be happy to pass it on but it's already promised to someone else :-( - I will send her the digital files once I'm done and then delete them off my computer.

No worries. It will be one of my unicorn charts. :-)

Have made a start on the box making! Not as neat as I would like but it's a start and I hope to get neater as the project progresses :D . As usual more detail in FoF.

I cut the fabric too ample at first, so the back is very flappy - the next ones are a bit tidier... There's quite a bit of measuring to get things in the right place, and I'm getting a lot of curved needle practice! I've amalgamated all the written info on the website (summaries of the videos) and made my own instruction booklets; I like having something in writing to refer to.

Looks like you've made a really good start. Just looking at the circular needle makes me think how weird that must feel. What is it that the circular needle provides that a regular one doesn't? I know. I'll go read about it in FoF where I'm sure to get the answers to the questions I have.
This is a very interesting project!

As a matter of fact I didn't really go into the curved needle there :) - but I can tell you that picking up a little bit of fabric on a flat stiff surface would be very difficult indeed with a straight needle!

Lovely relaxing afternoon of stitching today, and I managed to construct the inner box   - all put together with ladder/slip stitch

The dragon has been deployed to guard my needle box :-) (more detail about how it was all attached - spoiler alert, it was sticky tape  - on FoF)

Finishing the edge with 4-sided stitch (I think?) is an excellent solution. Box is good too! :applesauce: :applesauce:

It's actually nun's stitch (some sources call it nun stitch). Very secure, much more so than I expected - the only slight drawback compared to foursided edging (where I fold over the edge of the fabric) is that you have raw thread ends sticking out a little bit, but on the other hand not having to fold the edges and corners does make it easier to do and moderately quicker! (although as it's done over two and four-sided edging usually over four, that is probably not actually the case, it just feels like it :-) )

To show the difference, here are close-ups of four-sided edging and this nun's stitch edge
