KittyZ's stitching 2024

Hello, it's a new year and I'm back with more stitching.
I only seem to have time to stitch in the cold winter months so here are a few things I'm working on.
I'm almost done with my Gift Wrapped Cat, I have started on the backstitching.
Image
I have a new start on a kit that my mother-in-law got for me years ago on a trip London.
Is anyone from the UK familiar with the kits from Twilleys of Stamford?
Image
I have only finished the window shade, I plan to stitch the cat in the window in black thread so it will show up better.
Image
I have also started on another ornament, the pup with the blue scarf, I will post a photo of that later when I have more stitched.
Image
Now I will go take a peek at what everyone else has been stitching!

These are such cute designs. Have to laugh at the idea of the gift-wrapped cat...! Look forward to seeing these progress!

I like the paw prints on the gift-wrapped cat :-D !

Twilleys of Stamford sounds familiar; I don't think I've done any of their kits but I'm fairly sure I've seen them in needlework shops (when there were any such near me, sigh) and possibly the Knitting & Stitching Show. Definitely a reputable brand.

Nice :applesauce:

The Terrier piece looks just like little Alfie  who comes walking with us on Monday

Thank you all for the nice replies.
I finally finished the Gift Wrapped Cat today!
Image
(I know the bottom cat is slightly off center to the right in the frame, I was trying not to cut off too much of the head of the cat in the top left corner)

Here is a progress photo of my puppy ornament.
I finally got most of his face done so his eyes aren't too spooky.

I only made a little progress on the cat in the window.
I'm trying to decide which new start to do next, two different cat ones or maybe a horse.
(I will probably do one of the cats which is bigger than the other two but less complicated to stitch)

I love these little ornaments! They make me want to get out my old magazines and books and stitch some for Christmas this year.

I agree. Portable, too!

The ornaments are fun to do because they are so quick!

Almost done, I just need to backstitch and finish it.
I will probably start the Yorkie ornament next rather than a bigger project.

He’s so cute! I really do love these ornaments. Yeah, I’ve said that before but I just need to say it again.

Thanks for the replies!
I finished the puppy ornament 2 weeks ago.

I also started the last ornament in the set of 4, no photo yet since I only got as far as the green bow on top of the head.

Progress on my window cat, lots of confetti in the leaves around the window.

And I also have a new start...Thai Cat!

I thought it would be on 14 count when I ordered it but it is 10 count so it's pretty big.
It has a fluffier wool instead of floss which I have to use 3 strands instead of 2 so I can't use my loop starts.
But there are lots of big areas of color - no confetti or 1/4 or 1/2 stitches and only a few backstitches for the whiskers so it's stitching up pretty fast.
I have a question about blended threads, it says to mix one strand each of the white and lightest tan to fill in some of the lighter areas of the cat, but then everything around it uses 3 strands so will it look ok with only 2? I worked around those lighter areas for now.
I also had to get a couple of new things for my stash since the floss was a big mess in this kit and my ornament kit. I will post about that in Deliveries and Stash in General.

Using only two strands might add texture to the cat? Just guessing. I know it's going to look fabulous.

And with your smalls, you inspired me to get out my Leisure Arts books with Christmas smalls. Now that they're out, maybe I should stitch something from them. :-)

Does the wool make the cat look extra furry and strokeable?
