Supernatural Cross stitch

Post by Angel »

I love supernatural. It's one of my all time favourite tv shows. So I bought this pattern which....after not having cross stitched in YEARS I have decided to work 1over 1 on 25ct fabric! Not sure what I was thinking, but I'm totally loving it. That said... this is my progress so far.... nothing

Angel? ANGEL? Our very own Angel? Welcome, welcome, welcome back!

And it's not nothing at all. It is a Start. You can't go on if you don't make Start (something I should remember).

It is I! The vanishing woman! It's been quite an interesting and dramatic few years. Not sure anyone would believe what I've been up to though.

I kinda love this project. It's a nothing start, the pattern is 45 pages and 100ish colours, so it kinda feels like nothing. But in a good way. An enjoyable nothing?

So.... I bought the pattern on a whim and kitted it from stash, but I don't have all the threads and it's really annoying me that I don't have 939 which makes up the bulk of this blank space so.... I'm off to Mostyn today to go thread shopping. Bribing the kid with cake and a playground so I think we'll just have to spend the day at the craft shop...

The hardships of motherhood, eh? Not to mention the calls of the design.

We’ve gone to Abakhan in Mostyn which is about an hour and half travel across two buses, so I mean… if we’re coming here we might as well make a day of it. The craft shop is across multiple buildings with a play area and a cafe… so I’m now set up in the cafe with my project looking out onto the play area my child isn’t playing in because she’s conned some craft supplies out of me too and is set up next to me decorating bunnies 🤣

Oh yes. She’s got AuDHD though so she struggles to sit still long enough for the big projects. But she’s a definite dabbler. I like to encourage her with it too and this place inspires

I love that she’s giving it a go. She can just do however many stitches she wants before she feels the need to move on. Just like your project, every stitch is progress, right?? I think it’s important for all kids (and adults) to have a hobby of some kind that allows them to focus on something else, even if just for a few minutes.

I’m doing a full coverage on 25 count, 1x1, and I’m loving it. I thought about using 28 count but that pushes my eyes a little too far out of their comfort zone. :-)

Yes, I remember. Being able to dip in and out with no pressure in an inspiring place sounds pretty perfect to me.

She's got little felt dog sewing kits this time. She has a dog cross stitch on plastic canvas and she has almost finished it, but she's temporarily lost interest in cross stitch. So that's in my drawer and I'll pull it out for her again soon.

I got most of my colours yesterday, not all of them, but I did pick up 939 which I really wanted because it fills in so much of the blank space! My eyes are really struggling with the 25ct though. I have to take my glasses off to see it and even then I can't see it well. I think I should have gone for 18ct, which is my preference. But I didn't have any in my drawer.

All those dark colours together doesn't help. Make sure you have really excellent lighting. It'll look exceptional in 25ct.

haha that's very true. I can barely tell them apart, and the stitches are so small I can't see when I've missed one. It's going to be a real labour of love, but it makes sense that this should be a labour of love. After all, the show liked to torture the characters.
