gloriana silks

Post by purple-footprints »

Hi people, sorry Ive not been around for ages - did you all miss me!?!?!?!

I have been busy with my study, and also havent been very well lately, that combined with keeping up with normal life - not to mention stitching, has left me no spare time to log online at all.

Theres loads of reading i need to catch up on here, not to mention over 250 emails!!!! Thats almost enough to put me off logging on again!

I hope you are all well, and hello to all the new people who have joined since i was last on.

I looking for somehelp, there is a chart i want to stitch that requires gloriana silk 'blue hawaii' (no78). I need 2 skiens. The supplier suggested seems to no longer be trading, and i cant find another supllier in the UK. I have found someone in USA, but the price is pretty high. Ideally i would prefer to buy lcheaper, but if all else fails i will buy from USA.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hope to be online a little more regularily and catch up with you all again.

Take care

Sue

There you go! West End embroidery is in Reading, so not too far away (as the proverbial crow flies). Expensive stuff! Hope it's beautiful when finished.

It has been pretty quiet here. And yes, OF COURSE, we all missed you. Trust you are feeling well again and that all the studying has been effective and (dare I say it?) interesting and perhaps even fun.

I have put away my everyday stitching, and have two small engagement cards in hardanger to do. Then it's on to Christmas... which I enjoy.

Speaking of missing people, where's Rose? :?:

Hi serinde

Cant thank you enough for that website. I cant beleive you found one. Every time i was searching online it was coming up as unknown or taking me to USA. I tried emailing individual stores and most had never even heard of the thread! Those who had, didnt stock it and didnt know anyone else who did.

This project is going to be a little abitious, with a few speciality threads plus beads. It is aslo goign to be on evenweave over one!!! hence theextra challenge, and time required!

Thanks again for finding that site so seemingly effortlessly.

hugs
Sue

I'll tell you how I did it. I googled Gloriana silks and got their own website in the States. Then I looked in the section where the list the shops that sell their threads, and found the UK stores. Now, some of these have web addresses and some APPEAR not to. Now, you can't always believe what you read. I tried the one shop that had a URL, but they no longer sell the silks. Then I took a chance and googled westend embroidery. Hey, voila.

I always work on the assumption that updating websites isn't something that happens often in these specialist companies. Online retailing is big business now, so the chance that the other UK company selling Gloriana might have set up a website since the Gloriana site was last updated was, I felt, a safe bet.

So pleased it worked for you. :D
