Stuff I did many, many moons ago!

Post by Fljotsdale »

Crochet thing I did in my 30s:

Ditto, only filet crochet: (It's a butterfly in there, btw!)

A painting of Leonard Nimmoy as Mr Spock, that I did around the same time, maybe a bit later. It's looking a bit old and battered! I should have one I did of Tom Baker as Dr Who, as well, but I can't find it. Maybe it crumbled away... They weren't great paintings anyway, but I enjoyed doing 'em.

Really? Gosh. But thank you both! I haven't done crochet or painting for ... oh... SO long! I was never a fat lot of good at either, and life sort of got in the way of my continuing and improving, and then later... well, I did cross-stitch instead!

Maybe I should have another go at 'em... but I have so much else on at the moment!

How you can say that when you have such proof of your talents staring you in the face I really don't know, but I'm being totally sincere when I say that if I had even half your talent at these I'd be well chuffed with myself!

Thank you!

It's funny how easy it is to see only the faults in our own work, isn't it?
I must practice being proud!

But I've seen your work, and Mabel's and everyone else's in here, and I can see how talented all of YOU are! :applesauce:

Your works are WONDERFUL! :applesauce: I love the crochets (esp. the one with butterfly design  ) and you paint really well! What art medium did you use? Thanks for sharing them with us. Take care!

Thanks, Charmagne! I used oil paper, and oil paint, laid on very thinly, as I had to be very economical with paint, 'cos good quality oils are expensive and I didn't like cheap paints: they don't flow so smoothly from the brush. It's the same with water colours, as I'm sure you know, you being a water colour painter. :D I liked water colour, too, and did some watercolour pics, but found it a much more difficult medium than oils.

:applesauce: :applesauce: These are great!! I always told my art teacher in high school that I had no talent on flat surfaces, so if I could just turn in my projects as decorated cakes......

What lovely crochet, I like the flowers? in the first one.
Leonard Nimoy is brilliant, he was always the best in Star Trek.

Awww, your right to feel proud! They really are wonderful.
Are you sure you cant do more painting sometime? It just seems a shame to have such amazing talent and not use it. :applesauce:

As with post offices, "Use it or lose it"! I had a little go at drawing a couple of years ago, and I was hopeless! I guess I would improve with practice, but I don't seem to have much time - especially since my son moved in, and I have my small grandson as well, weekends (love 'em to bits. but my life isn't my own anymore. Plus, I'm a lazy old cat! I can always find excuses... )
