It started off badly in that I was trying to be economical with the fabric (always a mistake). Never mind, I just altered the pattern and made it a little narrower. I was going to make it into a lined pocket but was trying to be too clever by half by sewing it all together in one go, cut the seams down and turned it to find it was all the wrong way round. By which time I was really p***d off with it. Having snipped the seams there is not a lot left to do anything with.

My next attempt will not be a pocket

I have some scented threads to use on this, and hopefully some cute beads as well if I can work them in.

I'm looking forward to getting started on this, after I've done my mitten. I thought I would put some beads on this as well and I even thought of getting some real buttons to put where the stitched buttons are. I'll see what I can find in my LNS!

I have my pattern set with the wording I chose in english. I will not start stitching until I have completed at least one page on my Mystery stitch. I need to get caught back up with that pattern as the last page will be out this week.

Now that the Mystery Stitch is done I can get started on this. I cut my fabric. Zigzagged the edges. I am using the Stef Francis 12 strand silk that was given to me as a gift. I found the middle and have made my first few stitches. This silk does feel different from the other silk but I still don't like the way it flows and how each stitch lays but when I am not looking at it so close up it looks good over all.

Mabel I don't know if this is hand dyed silk or not it does not say anywhere on the tags. Can I wash this or should I be very careful as the thread might run if I try to wash it??? It is a varigated thread so I am thinking hand-dye.

I have completed my 1st draft of this. I am not very happy with the changes I made or the thread choice as the palest colour in the variegated floss hardly shows up. What do you think? I won't be offended in any way.

I love the fabric and colours Midge, but I do have to agree that the palest colour doesn't show enough. :thinks: Or at least, it doesn't on my screen. :( Sorry.

I agree with TB, the darker blues go beautifully with that yummy fabric, but the palest shades are difficult to see; do you have a variegated thread like it but a bit darker?

Rose, yes, the Stef Francis silk is hand-dyed -- from my Serendipity experience I'd say you're probably all right washing it in lukewarm water with a very mild detergent, but then let it dry before you try ironing it, and when you do iron it between layers of kitchen paper. Good luck!

I have been devoting what time I have to this project and last night I discovered that when I made the boarder I made a bit of a mistake. Well I have already cut the material to the proper size so I could not make the change it is not very obvious so I left it. I will say sorry to who ever gets mine in advance. :(
