Crocheting

Post by Thursday Next »

So about a month ago when I was visiting my parents, my mom tried to re-teach me to crochet (I used to know how when I was little), and I got very frustrated and gave up. Last weekend though, I decided to try again and it was practically like fish getting back in water this time!! I have begun work on a scarf and hat set that I found the pattern for and thought looked lovely (of course it's an advanced pattern! I just thought the finished product looked nice ;) )

Image
(that's not me, obvi since it's not done yet! ;) )

It's fortunately coming along quite nicely (doesn't look exactly like the photo for some reason, even though I'm using the same yarn) and not as difficult as I first thought (and with some help from Mom!).

Ok ok, so I didn't make good on my promise for piccies last night.....here's a pic of my scarf as it is now (pulled out the last few rows, decided I had gotten them too narrow) - have a few rows of length left and then onto the border!

(Not exactly sure why the coloring of mine is SO different from the model, since I'm using the same yarn as the pattern called for, but I like mine just the same :) )

That's looking great :applesauce: :applesauce: ! And I suppose yarns like that always look different on every project, but the colouring on yours is lovely.

The hardest part of crocheting for me is deciphering the instructions. They can be so confusing sometimes.

Have been meaning to update with a new pic - I finished the scarf while I was at my mom's last week  and yesterday I went to the park and finished most of the hat as well! All that's left for it is to add a border to the cuff, and the flowers on the side....I'm thinking perhaps I should find a mittens pattern to make a pair to match too! :)

Thursday next,

I crochet as well and have since ive been 8 yrs old and im 42 so if you have any questions id be happy to help you with it. As far as the color not matching to well, one could just be the lighting compared to how they took the other pic, the other could just be dye lot as they do vary no worries, you did a beautiful job on the scarf and hat.

Hi and well done!
You found a really nice pattern and finished!
I love doing crochet BUT struggle to find items I want to make to wear - you managed it!
Years ago I crocheted a sweet poncho for Jo, our little girl - now in her 30s. That was so good because I could add to it as she got bigger! No, she's not still wearing it!
