Thank you everyone. As you may have guessed, we are home. The op went very well. Alex has recovered well but is still quite tired and droopy, not quite back to his usual happy bouncy self, but I'm sure that will come with time.

I think both pics are lovely. Is it two different stitchings because the colors look similar but different or is it the photos? I sometimes have the piece looking completely different in the photos because of the light. Regardless, I think the piece with the beads actually looks finished and a bit ...
