I got very lazy about posting updates on this project, but I am now FINISHED! Woohoo! I took the piece in to be framed last week, so I'll also post some pictures of it framed once I get it back.
This was one of my favorite projects to work on. Very pleased with how it came out!

Re: Venetian Opulence (Mirabilia) - update 8/12
Here's the latest... I've been slow to update due to travel and starting a new job. Busy, busy, busy!
These photos are sort of at an odd angle, but I think you can still see the progress fairly well. Sorry - I was too lazy to iron the material before taking pictures!

Re: Venetian Opulence (Mirabilia) - Update 8/12
Here's the latest update.... I know I've said this several times before, but I just LOVE working with these colors! And I'm excited that I've reached the point where at least a few of the sections are starting to look like something... The fan and the fleur-de-lis have come together at last.

Venetian Opulence (Mirabilia) - FINISHED
Hello All! I wanted to share a new project I'm working on: Venetian Opulence from Mirabilia. I'm really enjoying working with all of these rich colors, especially since my last project was mostly whites and grays.
Here is what the finished design will look like:

Re: Sarah's HAED - Tree of Life (Marchetti)
I've always done a plain old traditional cross stitch... Can you explain what you mean by "2 over 1 tent stitch"? Thanks!Sarah Gixxer wrote:
As with all my HAEDs, I'm stitching 2 over 1 tent stitch on 25 count Lugana evenweave. Here's what it will look like when complete and I'm over half way with it.

I've been very pleased with the products and service from 123Stitch.com and NodicNeedle.com. (I got the cutest little Christmas owls from Nordic Needle!) I live on the Delmarva peninsula (Maryland/Delaware/Virginia) and there's a great shop in Bethany Beach called Sea Needles that I recently visited ...

Re: Washing Finished Projects
Very interesting to see that so many people wash their projects. For those of you that do, what are the reasons? I'm wondering if I should start washing mine, though I've never done so in the past. I stitch a lot of Mirabilia patterns on linen. I just hold the linen in my hand as I stitch, so it ...

Re: how did you start?
My mom taught me to cross stitch when I was very young, probably around 7 or 8 years old. I think she was just trying to keep me quiet and occupied, and it worked pretty well!

Re: Preparation Habits?
I have found that masking tape for Aida works perfectly fine and takes less time than whip-stitching or zig-zag stitching. I've also used painter's tape when I don't have masking tape on hand (my obsession with spray paint means that painter's tape is ALWAYS on hand at my house).

Re: Has the Postman brought you anything fun in 2013
Can anyone confirm that salt-and-pepper.com is still in business? I placed an order with them a couple of weeks ago and haven't received anything. My card hasn't been charged, so I assume that means my order still hasn't been processed. I've tried calling and emailing them but no response. I've ...
