Re: Cherry blossom patterns...?

A lot of great patterns to consider here. Thank you everyone for the ideas! I admit, I had seen and was looking at the Riolis kit already. But the kanji says "spring" and I'm not sure how I feel about that, considering the situation. I do know the kanji for "cherry blossom" and was considering ...

Cherry blossom patterns...?

Sneaking out of my lurking to see if perhaps anyone here can point me in a good direction. Here's my situation: A good friend of mine recently passed from a terminal illness. The turn she took at the end was sudden and I would never have been able to afford to go see her one last time without very ...

Re: Huge problem in Dubai..PLS help

I completely hear you about not wanting to substitute. I don't like to make substitutions in materials either... unless *I* decide to change something on purpose! :) Maybe it's possible to mail order the correct DMC colors from an online store? Or maybe someone here could help, depending on how many ...

Angry about copyright infringement...

Until my local cross stitch store closed last fall, I had never needed to look online for anything regarding cross stitching. Now, with said store closed and none others in my area, I've been forced to look online for things and I'm increasingly angry.... no downright pissed... at sites like ...

What beautiful, even work. :) You're very talented and the pattern is so cute! I couldn't find that one when I looked up Joan Elliot's patterns. Do you know if it's still available somewhere?

Re: Digital Just Cross Stitch Mag Subscription

I've never subscribed to any cross-stitch magazine for the same reason Rose said.... The few times I look at them in the stores, there are often cute things that I like, but not a lot in there I would actually stitch. (If that makes any sense...) I did pick up one magazine that was Halloween themed ...

Re: I have to ask... Why grid?

It's nice to hear I'm not weird and that other people stitch the way I do. :) I don't seem to have a problem with the counting (though I don't count out more than 10-15 stitches unless I have to) and if I make a mistake, I don't always remove it. I examine the mistake and if it can be simply worked ...

I have to ask... Why grid?

I've been thinking about this for a while and finally was spurred on to ask by another post on the board....... Why do you all draw grid lines on your projects?

I fear this is a really stupid question, but I am genuinely curious. :) I've seen the beautiful WiPs posted here (so much fun to see other ...

Re: 2 or 3 threads for 14 count

I agree with those saying that what is "right" is what comes out looking the way you want. :) Best advice anyone here can give! :D

My personal thoughts: Three strands would probably be too much for 16ct (dependent on your taste and the visual effect you want to achieve) but when I still worked with ...

If something happened to me and I left something beautiful like that unfinished, I would be thrilled if I knew one of my loved ones finished it in my place. What a special kind of tribute. ^_^

Re: Do you have a project you despise working on?

This is a fascinating thread to me! I've been stitching for about 26 or 27 years (my first large piece was completed in 1988) and I have NEVER worked on a piece that I hated or wound up hating. I've bought patterns that I later decided not to stitch, but that's as close as I've gotten. Mind you ...

Re: Sad Day

It's very tragic... and also so hard given this is a topic people know he's battled with and thought about. But depression is amazingly destructive. I think the best representation I've ever seen of true depression was in a movie in which Robin Williams himself acted, "What Dreams May Come". Without ...

Re: Please help me

The only reason the backs of my projects are amazingly neat (so I've been told.... some of the ones I saw pictured here were neater than mine!) is because I used to stitch on clothing. When you're working on a denim jacket, the back HAS to be really neat so you don't keep snagging it on your other ...

Re: Buy kits or build a stash?

I'm a bit anti-kit.... Kits are much better than they used to be, it seems. (Many I see now have sorted floss, as opposed to the mixed up twist of it you used to get.) Still, I much prefer buying the pattern only. Kits almost never come with linen, which is my preferred fabric to stitch on, and I ...

Re: Looking for this "Tarot Witch"(?) pattern...

Yes, I tried searching like that but it turned up far too much to wade through, little of it relevant at all. I also tried a Google image likeness search, which turned up exact matches.... but only to other illegally uploaded copies of the pattern. :(

But hopefully more eyes looking for it will ...

Re: Unconventional X Stitch

I love links to "unconventional" cross stitch patterns. :) Everyone does have different tastes, which is half the fun of the hobby. Myself, I don't have a thing for floral patterns, for example, but I love to see them when other people stitch them! Not to mention, no matter what the subject matter ...

Looking for this "Tarot Witch"(?) pattern...

I've seen this pattern uploaded illegally on a few Russian sites and one English site (that will remain nameless), never with identifying information accompanying it. I want to track it down. Does anyone recognize it?

Thanks for looking! :)

I got back to you both in PMs and marked those patterns as taken! :)

Edit:

I've edited the original post to tidy it up and remove patterns that were mailed out. There are only three patterns left for whoever might like them! :)

Some patterns available!

Some threads I read here inspired me to cull my pattern pile and I found some I'll honestly never stitch. Would love to see them go to someone eager to make them, so I'm offering them here "free for cost of shipping". I am willing to ship internationally, if told how best to send. :) These are being ...
