I cut my threads longer than most people do, it seems. I measure the thread by holding the end in my left hand and pulling the thread up my arm and across my chest to my right shoulder and cutting it there. It ends up being about 36 inches.

I have a Dritz fine point Mark-B-Gone pen, too, with the washable blue ink. It does work very well. The ink rinses right out with just a little cold water.
