Hi everyone!
As you may know, I already have multiple large projects on the go. However, this one is a true titan.
I absolutely love horror films and Halloween is my favourite time of year, so when I saw this beauty I had to get it, in its standard size (about 89 colours). However, I quickly ...

Re: Which count would be appropriate?
That is incredibly handy, thanks! I shall play around with it in the next couple of days.
EDIT:
Thanks everyone for your advice. Much as I'd like to, it's probably not a good idea for me to tackle a piece of this complexity at the moment (job, uni work, previous commitment to other friend's piece ...

Re: Which count would be appropriate?
Hi everyone,
Really appreciate your comments, and will try to reply to them in order:
Richard - I'd like it to be certainly less than a metre long, I'm not sure where my friend intends to hang it, and I'd like to have it completed in a couple of years if possible. Half a million stitches?! Eeeee ...

Hi all, thanks for your comments, don't have much time at the minute for a longer reply so will do so tomorrow...
But just to clarify, obtaining permission from the Sealife people was the first thing I did, and I received confirmation that it was okay by e mail :) I wouldn't dare attempt to chart ...

Re: Trouble with pulling needle through
I always thought a sharp needle was best for penetrating the material with more precision... if you see what I mean. Had a long day at work, that may not have been phrased correctly, lol.
I know absolutely nothing about needles (clearly! ;)) so when I bought the one I'm using I chose it because it ...

Re: Trouble with pulling needle through
Hi all,
You've raised an interesting point about needle size. I am currently using a John James Quilting needle, size 5/10. I have no idea whether or not this is suitable for what I'm doing. Does anyone have any advice?
Another point some of you touched on is the parking method. I haven't really ...

Trouble with pulling needle through
Hi all,
Now that I've finished my mini HAED I have decided to try and finish the Egyptian Temple for my other best friend. The problem is, I am having the devil's own job trying to pull and push the needle through the fabric.
It is 25 count and I'm stitching 2 over 1. I have stitched this way ...

IT IS FINISHED!! IT IS FINISHED!!! AHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Sorry. That was the demented scream of someone who has been working ceaselessly on a project for just over a year who has finally finished the darned thing. I'm better now *cough*
It's about 8 months or so behind schedule and has driven me round ...

Re: Lap frame is here whoop whoop - update 20/12/15
Awesome project, would love to do a fractal at some point. Also have been looking for a large lap frame - I know you've recently done the highland fling down the stairs (hope you feel better soon!) but before that do you think the lap frame helped you sit back in your chair more comfortably or do ...

Re: HAED mini diamond birthstone update 05/06/15
Hi all,
I have been working like a demon on this thing (although it may not seem like it!) and I think I only have 5300 stitches to do.
I have found a parking technique that seems to work work me, albeit I need to find a way of keeping the threads out of the way.
Here's the latest pic: http ...

Kindle holder?
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to phase out using paper charts and relying on electronic charts saved on my Kindle. I could really use some sort of holder which can attach to the frame of the project I'm working on and hold my Kindle in a position where I can easily see where I'm up to and mark it ...
