Re: listening to music/radio/TV while stitching?

I 'watch' a lot of TV-on-DVD while stitching away. As others have said, it usually has to be something that I've watched before -- my television tastes run toward British detective dramas and an outrageous amount of Doctor Who, and there can be no splitting focus in a new episode of Lewis or Doctor ...

Where Did All The Stash Come From?!

I'm moving house on Saturday. Since the last time I moved, in 2008, I have accumulated four years worth of stash. This includes four years worth of Cross Stitch Gold and Cross Stitch Card Shop, which I haven't sorted or tore up or in any way done anything to reduce the sheer volume of paper current ...

Re: First Evenweave project - Scotland Map

That looks like it's going to be a beautiful map when you've stitched it.

I did my first project with evenweave about six years ago and never went back. It takes a little getting used to, but I find it much nicer to work on than aida.

Re: Newbie from Bonnie Scotland

Carole, it's something that I dubbed myself last year. I'm a medical student, and in the last couple of years of medical school, we trot around various hospitals in order to learn the hands-on stuff. Scotland is large enough and has few enough medical schools that you can get to quite far flung ...

Re: Washing Finished Projects

I usually handwash with warm water and Johnson's Baby Shampoo, and then dry it flat on a towel. I've done projects that have had metallic threads in and never had trouble with washing them the same way. After it gets to the point of being almost dry, I finish it off with a hairdryer on the warm ...

Re: Newbie from Bonnie Scotland

Forth Valley. I ended up in Tanzania last summer for a bit and people often think that the 'wandering' is a reference to that, but it's more of a reference to ending up in places like Biggar and Stornoway!

No, I don't know how I will either. I'm planning to make the most of the next few months.

Around The World WIP

I am a newbie to the forum and wanted to share my halfway done SAL. I'm just getting back into stitching after a couple of years doing not that much, and this was the project that I was doing when I hit my stitching slump -- it was intended for my grandfather, who died when I was doing it, which may ...

Re: Newbie from Bonnie Scotland

Serinde, I'm not even into foundation years yet! Up to a few weeks ago, I was a wandering medic because I was still charging around some of the furthest flung parts of the west of Scotland on my medical school rotations. But those days are hopefully behind me and I should be both wandering and ...

Thank you for the welcome.

I tend towards larger projects, and plan to put my current project up in the SAL forum later today when I've wrestled it off its Q-Snaps!

Re: how did you start?

I tried to do some when I was very young. I was self-taught and not very good at reading instructions, as I suppose most people probably aren't when they're six, so I did some silly things, like trying to stitch on 14-count aida with six strands, and I soon became disheartened and gave up.

I ...

Newbie from Bonnie Scotland

Hi!

I've just joined the forum after looking around on t'internet for somewhere to chat to fellow stitchers. I'm getting back into stitching after a couple of years of not doing much -- back in the day, I was active in another online community but it has since become quite empty and inactive, so it ...
