Re: Hobby Lobby floss sale!
I usually use the craft stores as motivation for workouts...run there and walk home so I don't mind a reason to get out.
That said, it tends to make my workouts rather expensive...

Re: Hobby Lobby floss sale!
My Hobby Lobby only had the Artiste floss for 30 percent off, not the DMC. darn. Oh well, Joann's Labor Day sale includes floss too!

Re: OT- What's Pinterest all about?
Pinterest is used to pin things that you like, want to try, etc. You separate the "pins" (essentially bookmarks with pictures) into different "boards" for organization. You can also search and see what other people have "pinned" and "repin" things to your own boards. Once something is pinned to a ...

Re: My stitch store is CLOSING!!
That is a bummer! It is too bad I didn't know about it the four years (job was the only good thing there) I was living in Owatonna--not that my contribution would have helped any. It is unfortunate, but I feel like local stores almost have to also have a decent online presence, be an offshoot of an ...

Re: Threads?
I totally hear you on that one. It won't help you monetarily, but maybe you could find a good use for the unused threads? Maybe a scout troop or a school art or enrichment class would welcome them to use for a craft?

Re: iPads and Kindles for stitching
I use the PDF-notes app which connects up with Dropbox.
So, I buy my charts on my ipad from wherever, after I have them opened up in iBooks (the default) then I choose "open in Dropbox" and it will save them there. Then, I have access to them anywhere...my laptop, my ipad, my iTouch, etc.

Re: Threads?
If it were me, I would convert to DMC and then I could be in control of how much thread I have and when I will have it. I would be afraid I would get almost done, run out of the thread and then Dimesions would either not send it to me for whatever reason, it takes forever to arrive, it doesn't match ...

Re: Portable Lighting
Thanks all! I use a qsnap so I will take a look at the clip on lights. That seems like the perfect size and easy to move around. I like the desk lamp lines as well but a lot of the places don't really have any surface space to spare, especially if some people are doing sewing or drawing. At my house ...

Portable Lighting
I know this has been asked before but I am not coming up with anything in the searches...
I am wondering what you use for portable stitching lighting. A group of friends and I are starting up a once a month crafting day where we go to various homes, hang out, eat, and craft. I am looking for a ...

Re: Backwards stitcher
My cross stitching has all been HAEDs so far, so I start at the top left and proceed right to left by page, cross country style (within reason...I only jump around if it is fewer than about 6 stitches or so). However, I am questioning whether I want to do that with my Autumn Cat as I want to get to ...

Re: HAED Faery Tales - 13/07 update
Looking great! If I continued with 939 or alternated, it would largely depend on if I was in a "need something easy" (solid blocks) of "want to think a little bit" mood. I have days when I really want to do confetti, days when I want to do a little bit of thinking but not quite that much, and days ...

Re: HAED: Mini Autumn Cat--Updated August 19, 2012
Great progress! Question though.I keep seeing the phrase 2 over one. What does that mean? Is it a full cross stitch or a half stitch? I'm in USA so I think the lingo may be confusing me-or perhaps not. I tried google and I am as befuddled as ever to what the term refers to. I see it a lot in the ...

Re: 28 count is really hard to stitch .
If you're stitching full cross over 1, I'd try with just one strand. I'd also check what size needle you're using...I've found 28 count needs a size or two smaller needle than 14 ct.

maybe they are just hoping someone will actually buy it for that price? They'd make a good profit that way, I guess.

Yeah, you scan it with your phone and then it knows what it is. Many times web pages or something are encoded in them. Ive seen them most often on advertisements. You know, "for more information, scan QR code above".

Finally got moved and settled in!! I started my new job this week and so far things are going well (it is somewhat hard to tell since I'm still learning lots instead of really contributing. I had never heard of 6 of the 8 "applicant must haves" on the application, but they hired me anyway. Now I'm ...

Re: storage
I've got a large black storage box I got from Ikea that I store all of my stitching stuff in on a bookcase in my living room. So far, it is large enough, though most of my patterns are PDFs so they don't take up any space.
