Airplane sampler

Post by megandmog »

First pic of the airplane sampler type piece I'm doing for my dad and his model flying club.

The frame I bought is quite big so the letters could have done with enlarging, but nevermind, more room for planes!

Got fed up on the border so didn't quite make the full rectangle! Also, was going to do it checkered but I got so carried away stitching a long row that I forgot to do the gaps, so it's a complete line now. Which means more stitching lol.

That is a great start. I like the letters they look good on there. I know what you mean about thinking you are going to do a pattern boarder and then just start stitching and you look bad and think  I WAS going to do a pattern. Been there done that. :D

Finished the lettering nad got one plane done last night. Think I started with the most fiddly one but nevermind!

Kinda making it up as I go along with this one. Have a rough idea of which planes will go where, but colours and just picking at random from the bargain threads I bought at the market earlier this week.

Thanks Sarah, the big letters Mabel found, the smaller ones I just made up, loosely based on the big ones!

Lol Lisa, I'm a few miles from Runcorn, but the club is still called that from years ago when it was based over there.
