new to gridding

Post by crystaltigress »

My thought is to grid out the 60 pages of my new HAED with one color, and use another for the 10 by 10. Easy right? Post your thoughts... PLEASE! :)

Hmmm, that's a huge amount of gridding. I've gridded just by page for my HAED and have found that quite adequate - although be careful, the page sizes are often not the same! I think quite a few of us have gridded for HAEDs so it would be worth waiting a bit and see what others suggest too. Good luck on this wonderfully huge and (to me) very daunting project :D :D :D

I haven't done a HAED yet but I have gridded a couple of projects large and small. I would start with 10x10 grids because it starts with a nice compact area to focus on. You can focus on doing all the stitches of one color in that grid before moving on to the next one.

If you grid by page and then find out you're having problems reading some symbols on the page so you decide to enlarge the page to see better than your gridding by page will be off. Does that make sense?

On the other hand, on the HAED that I bought it was hard to see the 10x10 grid lines for a lot of the squares for the large size chart I got. Once I enlarged the page I could see the lines more clearly. This means I'm going to have a lot more pages to do before I'm done but at least I can see them.

i decided on the 10 by 10 only.... the pages were kind of overkill once i got the 10 by 10 laid down.... and just doing the pages wouldnt have been enough. wish me luck! i am only about 1/4 of the way done with the gridding.....

Dont grid all at once, i've learned that the hard way. I've rubbed off a lot of the gridding by my hands just touching the fabric. Only grid in small sections that you're working in, trust me you'll be a lot happier. I've had to go over areas a few times with the marker after my hand has rubbed it off.

Once i reach the area where my gridding ends, then I just continue the grids for a few more squares, etc etc.
