help please Kreinik #4??

Post by DaisedLady »

Hi,

I brought a HAED chart a week or so back and i'm just sorting through seeing what threads I will need. the tope thread listed is DMC shade number 032 Colour Kreinik #4.

I can't find this number on my DMC shade list and can't seem to find any mention of it on t'interweb. Can someone please tell me what this shade is and where I can buy it from?

Many Thanks

This might be a stupid question, but have you looked on the kreinik website?

http://www.kreinik.com/

The info might be on there for you or maybe you could email them? Or, alternatively, you could email HAED - they're very good at replying and are very knowledgeable. Sorry I couldnt give you a definite answer to your question!

Me again! Is this what you're after?

032 is pearl, about halfway down the page. If that looks right, there are many stockists in the UK. Hope this is a bit more help!

032 is a sort of pearlescent colour of Kreinik metallic thread, and the 4 tells you it's very fine braid. It is readily available, and not particularly expensive. Also pretty well behaved for a metallic. I've used it often and really love the pearly colour.

Just a word from a fellow HAED stitcher - does yours have a floss usage chart? I spent awhile trying to find the Kreinik listed in mine but turned out it was only needed for TWO STITCHES (out of 317,500 that's not a lot) So I was able to just use a lemon-coloured sparkly thread I already had (don't know what it was but for such a tiny area it didn't matter)
Not sure what design you're doing but it may just be worth having a look at the chart and seeing how much of the Kreinik symbol is in there! I may be wrong of course, for a very sparkly chart I would use the real thing :)

Hi

Thanks for the replies

I was looking for a DMC shade called Kreinik - how stupid am I

I've got just under 2000 stitches out of 170800 so about 1.1% of the overall design - think I will be going for the correct thread as it's my first HAED and I want it to look good :)

Thanks again for your help very much apprciated.

I am pretty sure there is a shade of DMC that you can use in place of kreinik too if you don't care for metallics. I want to say it's b5200 but don't quote me on that. I've got another HAED that calls for 2,000 plus stitches also of kreinik and I'll probably just use the kreinik also.

Which HAED chart did you end up getting? (I can't remember if you posted it somewhere else or not)
Kerri
Current WIP:
HAED Chessie-10,200 of 90,300 - 11%
HAED Catch a Falling Star-8,900 of 203,900 - 4%
HAED Wrath-46,630 of 240,000 - 19%

I actually brought 3 (ooops) but the one I'm going to do first is the PILIpala Butterflies

http://www.heavenandearthdesigns.com/in ... ts_id=2886

not going to be starting it very soon as I have two other projects I'm going to concentrate on and finish first... but it's my b'day coming up soon so making a list of threads as my mum has offered to buy them for me :):)

I brought a small story keep one that I'm going to do when I'm travelling for work as well and the green man four seasons that is going into my stash box for after I have finished all my other bits and peices(this one also has the Krenik no 4 in it so defintly worth me buying a reel/skein however it comes!)

DMC B5200 is a pure brilliant white, if that's any use.
