KK's new WIP: Welcome to our home

Post by Kute Kitty »

This is going to be a Christmas gift for my grandmother and her partner. I found it really difficult to think of anything I could do for them. She's 81, he's 86(ish) and neither of them are in the best of health. I love them both to bits but...when it comes down to it, we live in different worlds! She likes to knit, I can knit a straight line and that's all, he likes cross words but has had difficulties with them since he had a series of small strokes, and I'm fairly sure they both have more than enough socks!

Eventually I decided to design a cross stitch for them, I did it by assembling motifs on my design software so it's my understanding that I can't share the chart as the aspects that make it up are copyrighted, so you'll all have to wait until I'm finished to enjoy it :) It'll say "welcome to our home" and have both my grandmother's and her partner's names on it.

This is my first progress picture, the house is the most complicated piece on it so I'm glad I've nearly got through that...well, except the backstitch :)

Well, I've finished this! But the batteries in my camera have died so I've got to go out and get more and I'll have pictures up soon. Ah the joys of having a week off, I can just concentrate on lovely things like this!

I'm really pleased with how it's turned out, I hope they'll like it too. Having said that, I'm pretty sure they'd like anything I'd made for them...!
