Look what I found

Post by Sarah Gixxer »

I've just seen this kit on Sew & So reduced from £30 to £12 in the sale! It's called Siberian Snuggle.

Image

I have stitched dragons for Simon, Stained Glass Rose for his brother, Dolphins for his Mum, Daffodils for my Mum and HMS Victory for my Dad. Simon's sister Carol is the only one who hasn't had a stitched picture and she loves my stitching (in fact it was she who bought me the Sunflower Triptych kit by Lanarte last year) and she loves tigers so I thought this would be a perfect one to do to give her for next Christmas. I thought I would grab the kit now while it's in the sale, but I won't be starting it in the immediate future - I'll either start it in a few months as a morning project, or I'll wait until the end of the summer and then just drop everything else and stitch it in one go.

I regularly look at Sew and So's sale but hadn't spotted all the new stuff in it. If anyone likes the cut thrus they have got loads of them in their sale. Well worth a look.

I wasn't even looking for tigers when I went on there, I was hemming and hawing about whether to order another piece of Lugana ready for my next new HAED. I couldn't make my mind up, so I thought I'd leave it and then I clicked something (don't know what I was distracted) and the tigers popped up. So in the end I ordered the tigers AND the lugana - might as well save on postage. It's still only £1 for both things.

I also saw this on there.

I've never stitched a horse before, which is odd because I love them and have ridden for over 30 years (since I was 5). This particular one is named "Sarah" too. I think she looks gorgeous on the black fabric. OH says he's going to buy me this chart for Valentine's Day! Even more stash!

Oh I love it on the black Sarah, it really makes the horse stand out.

The tiger kit arrived from Sew & So yesterday. It looks so cute. On briefly looking in the pack though, I know I'm going to have a bit of a nightmare with it at the beginning.

The floss is all in one huge knot and needs sorting - normally I'm fine with doing this, but the colours are so similar they're going to be awful to sort out. Various shades of pale blues and greys and creams. I just hope there is a different number of lengths of each one to help me out. Plus the chart itself is partially coloured with red and blue symbols - I much prefer black and white charts, but at least it's not colour blocks. Anyway, the struggle will be worth it as I know I'll love doing it when I get going and I'm sure OH's sister will be pleased with it next Christmas.

I'm thinking of starting it in June as OH and I are going for a motorbike racing/camping weekend. I love motorbikes (looking at them and riding them) but the racing bores me stiff after a while so OH suggests I bring my sewing and sit stitching by the tent while he watches the actual races. That way he gets to see the qualifying and the warm ups and the racing without worrying that I'm fed up and I get to stitch in the outdoors. Sounds good to me!

Sounds a great idea to me as well. :)
Hope you get on okay with the sorting Sarah, I don't envy you the task.
I prefer black and white charts as well, but I'm sure you'll manage it fine and zip through it no probs! :applesauce:
