ohstitcher, your argument is true, but I think it's just the other side of story. For instance when you're starting this hobby, purchasing all kind of threads is costing a lot. And it depends on what kind of designs you prefer to stitch, or how quick stitcher you are. Some designs require 40 to 60 different shades of colours, and if you don't have them already, it's great deal of money to invest.

But lol, this is just my opinion :D

ohstitcher wrote:Nina, I hate to be a wet blanket here but actually our hobby really isn't that expensive. Unless you are using silks the price of the dmc and fabrics are really pretty reasonable not like other hobbies. The real expense in my opinion is the framing. Sure some of the patterns are expensive especially if you use GK but Scarlet quince has some amazing patterns and they aren't as expensive as GK. And they have alot of what GK has. If I added up what I spent for my latest project I bet it was well under 50 us dollars. I never keep track of what is spent but maybe next time I will.
if you live in the states DMC is cheap, if you live anywhere else it is nearly double!! the average price for DMC is 75p which is $1.15!! EACH!!!!

If I didn't live so far away from you and know that Mark doesn't disappear for days on end - I'd swear we'd married the same man!!

A small selection of them - to show your hubby!! :D

Me and the OH also do this! although I've had to train him to check on the skein itself that it's the right colour in case it's fallen into the wrong section.

Seeing the Golden Kites has made me feel a lot better about $15 for a HAED chart!!
