I've been having trouble finding a solution for this.
First I tried the DMC stickers, but their quality was awful. They wouldn't even stay on the little sheet right out of the package, so I gave up and tossed them. Then I tried writing the numbers on masking tape, but then the tape started coming off. Finally I tried cutting the numbers off the skein label and taping them onto the bobbin, but the tape still won't stay stuck onto the bobbin, so I worry about losing my labels.
Any other ideas?

When I used the plastic bobbins I would use the DMC stickers..shame it didn't work out for you... I remember one time I used a sharpie pen with a fine tip... But that's pretty permanent

I use the DMC nbr from the skein and tape it onto the plastic. The scotch tape is long so when the embroidery skein is wrapped around the plastic, it does hold the tape down. So far, I have not had any problem keeping the nbr on the bobbins.
Not sure if you can get them in the US. But I buy tiny white sticky labels from a stationary store. They are approx 9 x 15mm and they seem to work fine. As long as you can write small and neat.

I'll give that CD marker a try I think. Don't know why I didn't think of that myself. If it doesn't work then I'll try to hunt for those little white stickers.
Thanks for the suggestions.

This is the same thing I do and it works fine for me. I don't know what a CD pen is or where to get one.

The best method I have found has been to cut the number from the skein and attach it to the plastic bobbin and to make sure I use a piece that is long enough so that it will go halfway down the bobbin on both sides of it. Hope that makes sense

I have a mix of plastic and cardboard bobbins in my stash and using a pencil for both works just fine for me. The only differences are that I have to push hard when writing on the plastic, but that is fine. Also, on the cardboard, I can usually erase and re-use if I didn't make any indents!
